Expedition Base Set introduceerde Technical Machine-kaarten, waarmee de Pokémon waaraan ze zijn bevestigd een aanval kan gebruiken zoals aangegeven op de kaart (een verwijzing naar de TM’s in de hoofdserie-games). Pokémon Power werd opgesplitst in twee groepen: Poké-Power en Poké-Body. Poké-Powers moesten geactiveerd worden om te gebruiken, terwijl Poké-Bodies altijd actief waren, tenzij geblokkeerd door een specifiek effect."
