French designer Chantal Thomass began her business in1967, she sold dresses made from hand painted scarves to the store Dorothee Bis. Over the years she has acquired a reputation for exotic underwear and theatrical, flirtatious clothes, made in sophisticated fabrics and often trimmed with frills and flounces. Her clothes are amusing, highly individual and distinctive. She describes her designs as "provocative but not vulgar."
