white vivienne westwood dress Incredible Spring 2015 Vivienne Westwood Ivory Corset Dress w Draped M – Shrimpton CoutureThis incredible 2015 Vivienne Westwood dress was a dress produced for the shops and it ended up being celebrity red carpet favourite that season. It is stunning on the body. This incredible 2015 Vivienne Westwood dress was a dress produced for the shops and it ended up being celebrity red carpet favourite that season. It is stunning on the body. A version of it that was more covered on the top walked the runway show that season and then we found shots of Kim Kardashian in what appears to be its twin  when she attended the La Traviata premiere at Teatro Dell’Opera. Emmanuelle Chriqui also wore a version in a different fabric for the Entourage London Premiere. These evening pieces are always done in a more limited production and that plus its extensive red carpet provenance makes this is a fantastically collectible dress that is also extremely beautiful.

This is classic beautiful Westwood. The dress is strapless with built in molded cups at the front that top a boned front corset panel. There is stretch netting along the inner sides and then additional boning at the back. The fabric is draped over that inner corset and the neckline is curves up at the front over each breast. A panel of fabric drapes across the front and it extends out on either side to long ties. On one side the panel is stitched around to part way at the back and then the other side is only stitched in place at the front which allows you to play with the placement of that panel more. I photoed it several ways and you can also see in the reference photos how you can wear that panel on the shoulder or around the arm, tie it all the way to the back or bring it around to the front for a full strapless look. I love this extra versatility and this kind of detailing is Westwood to the core. The waist is nipped in under that and then the dress glides over the hips and falls to the floor. The fabric has been draped and swept up over the dress as it falls to create the beautiful draping and folds that you see. I love how one side of the skirt is swept up and stitched into place. A high open slit is hidden under the folds of the skirt where it sweeps up and when you walk or sit you get a fantastic length of bare leg. It is fantastic and a very special piece. This would make an amazing wedding dress for a bride or could be an alternative dress in a more extended wedding celebration. And of course it could also be worn to any fabulous and glamorous event. It has never been worn and still has its original tags attached. Excellent condition

The corset is boned through the front and back and has built in molded cups. The sides are a stretch netting. The skirt is lined in a soft ivory silk satin. It closes with a back zipper to the waist and then a second zipper is set under that at the back. The colour is slightly more ivory in person. A touch of grubbiness along the edge of the hem here and there. Tagged a US10 UK 14, FR42, IT44 with all original tags attached.

An Inspiration
After watching a video by one of my favorite youtubers discussing comics and this book, I had to buy it. I have always loved Kate Kane since started Batwoman 52 about a year ago, and was very excited to purchase this graphic novel. My expectations were very high, yet this book still managed to exceed them! Williams and Rucka are both extremely talented gentlemen. As the introduction points out, they really do convince you that these characters are real. You almost can't believe Kate isn't an actual human being, and you can really imagine meeting her in real life. I also was very (if not more) impressed with the artwork. The compositions are simply stunning, and completely original. I absolutely love how the scenes with Kate as Batwoman are illustrated with lots of detail and fluidity. It really has an eery watercolor effect, with great linework and color. This completely contrasts the scenes where Kate is either out on the town or in her home. Much more graphic, but still delightful. The costumes in this series are also amazing. Both Kate and her foe have some stunning outfits, and are very unique. Since I had already read Batwoman 52, I knew how everything that was going to go down. A lot of this book was her origin and was very interesting. And although I already knew what was going to happen, it still managed to make me cry. Don't think it won't be exciting or interesting just because you already know her origin, Williams and Rucka really pull you in and keep it very exciting. Kate Kane is definitely my comic book hero, and is truly an inspiration. If you are just getting into Batwoman or comics, this is a great place to start. Of course you may be disappointed when no other series can compare! What a shame Batwoman 52 is about to come to an end, this really is as good as it gets people, and I am very sad to see such a creative and talented team leave, but I do understand completely. I highly recommend this book to Kate Kane, DC and comic book fans everywhere! Enjoy!

Renews faith in comics
Decided to dive into the DC Comics New 52 and in preparation for Batwoman #1, I decided to pick up this book as a recommendation to getting the full story on this relatively new character to the DC world. This comic renewed my faith in comic books as both great stories and great pieces of art! Greg Rucka crafts a great story here but the artist JH Williams III presents it to you. You get to know this character here in more ways than just a quick reference. Batwoman is given the desire to serve her fellow man as her motivation. She is given the demographic of a Jewish lesbian soldier with a solid family background which is something we don't see much in our universe of white dominated or scarred superheroes. Sure she lost her mother and twin sister as at a young age, but she isn't damaged here. She rises above and serves only to be disappointed by trust issues in her life. But Rucka and Williams make her a bold woman who just keeps going like a shark, surviving because its her instinct and not her desire to escape something. This is the 21st Century woman superhero. Panels of note for me were: 1) how they presented the apartment Batwoman's alter ego lived in, 2) a beautiful full page spread showing the fight on the plane between Batwoman and Alice, 3) a transition panel where Batwoman and Alice are shown on the phone to each other, 4) a touching series where Batwoman as a child and her twin sister realize they are moving because of military orders and their life will change and they swear to always be there for each other. If you want to take a chance on the DC Comics reboot, take a chance on Batwoman #1 and get this one to bring you up to speed, you won't be sorry. A great twist for any new reader wanting to test the graphic novel/comic book scene.

Beautiful Art, Compelling Story
The birth of Kate Kane as Batwoman is one of my favorite graphic novels in my collection. I already owned the digital edition on my iPad, but the art by J.H. Williams was just too amazing not to see in print. This artist knows how to draw beautifully artistic pages; right down to the panels themselves. I also love the style shift from nighttime Batwoman to daytime Kate Kane. The story is really great, especially the ending of Elegy! I also really loved the back stories that follow, showing the history of Kate Kane and how she became the Batwoman. Its also good to know that the New 52 timeline in DC didn't delete all this continuity. Batwoman isn't another Batman flunkie. She's a strong woman and an amazing character that Greg Rucka and J.H. Williams really bring to life in this book.

Better Than Batman!
This is by far one of the best Batman titles that doesn't include Batman as the title character. I'm not much of a reader of Batman, but I have been very interested in Batwoman since I read the 52 series back in 2006. The story line itself is much better then when 52 presented her for the first time. I really like how Rucka focused more on her homosexuality and making her an identical twin too (since I'm a twin myself). However, what blew me away the most was the artwork. Williams really focuses on covering the entire page with art and color; giving you the full comic book art experience. I have seen and very much liked his work in Promethea and think this is just as good. Batwoman is now my second favorite super heroine after Wonder Woman of course.
