And when the roots reach the fabric, they air prune, which forces lateral root development and keeps plants from becoming root bound. Soak pots in a solution of vinegar and water for 24 hours, agitate occasionally, and rinse thoroughly. Or you can simply throw them in the washing machine. Smart Pots should always be dried in the sun, however, never the dryer.
