Li'l Lavender Butterfly Bush has light purple flowers with a light, sweet fragrance that attracts pollinators like butterflies and bees, which is excellent for biodiversity in your garden. All the varieties of Butterfly Candy are well-branched and are ideal for containers and smaller gardens because of their size. These flowering perennials mature to 2–3' high x 2–3' wide. Butterfly Candy butterfly bushes are easy-care, prune-free, and water-wise once established.

Butterfly Candy is a perennial and will produce new foliage in late spring in warmer climates and early summer in colder parts of the country. Lilac purple blooms of Li'l Lavender Buddleia will start to emerge in the summer and continue into fall.

Butterfly Candy Butterfly Bush Care

Sunlight Requirements for Butterfly Bush

Butterfly Candy bushes grow and flower best in full sun to part shade. However, they require a minimum of 8 hours of sunlight. They can grow in partial shade in warmer climates but still need at least 6 hours of sun, or it will reduce their flower production.

Are Buddleia Bushes Cold Hardy?

Buddleia is tolerant to temperatures as low as -20°C and thrives in USDA Zones 5-10, making it viable for most continental United States. However, be patient with buddleia since the shrub might not flush in the spring as soon as other perennials.

Watering Butterfly Bushes

Buddleia plants enjoy moist, well-draining soil that is rich in nutrients. Water weekly during the spring and summer and allow the top layer of soil to dry out between watering to prevent root rot. After your Butterfly Candy is established, it will be a water-wise plant that will only require water during periods of extreme drought.

When to Prune Buddleia

Since new growth appears on new wood, pruning can wait until the new wood is ready to grow in the spring. Be patient with your Butterfly Candy shrub because it flushes later than other perennials.

Deadheading is encouraged with buddleia. Deadheading means that you trim the spent flower spikes to encourage new shoots and flower buds. The practice of deadheading also prevents seeds from forming and dropping from the spent flowers, keeping your Butterfly Candy tidy and compact.

Fertilizing Flowering Buddleia Plants

As a blooming plant, butterfly bushes do well with an all-purpose fertilizer or a rose fertilizer intended to promote blooming. You can apply your fertilizer in the spring and early summer. You shouldn't apply fertilizer after July.

Spacing Recommendations

If you are planting rows of butterfly bushes, you will want to space them about 2-3 feet apart if you desire dense cover. If you're going to show off the mounding habit and provide more space between each fern, plant them at least 4+ feet apart.

Where to Use Butterfly Bushes

Plant your butterfly bush in sunny locations with 6-8 hours of sunlight daily. You can use them as short hedge rows that complement evergreen shrubs like boxwoods, nandinas, gardenias, or distylium. Since these are compact growing perennials, they are perfect for containers and patio gardens.

Planting Instructions

  • Dig in your native soil a hole as deep and wide as the container. We recommend planting in native soil for best acclimation.
  • Fill the hole with water and thoroughly water the new plant; allow both to drain.
  • Gently place the plant on its side and remove the pot. Place your hand on the bottom of the plant and put it in the hole.
  • Return native soil around the root ball, wetting and gently tamping down.
  • To complete this, create a shallow trench around the base of the plant to contain the water when watering.
  • Mulch 1-2" deep around the plant, avoiding the area closest to the stem.

Sleek looking and feeling wrist rest
Size: Keyboard Wrist Rest (Pack of 1), Style: Slim
5 Year Update: it finally had a tear on the corner and you can feel the gooey adhesive-like gel peak its way out. Not exactly sure how it happened. Could be my sharp nails or i may have grazed it with a box cutter while opening some packages. Keep sharp objects away from the pad! For now, i've put some clear tape over it to see how that holds. Still very useable. I got the slim one and it looks and feels great. It has a classy executive look to it and my wrists glide easily across it which is surprising since it's made out of some kind of vinyl/rubbery texture. It has a leather grain on it which actually feels similar to faux-leather. It looks as if it would be very easy to clean off if you get dirt and oil on it. That being said, my 3 caveats are: 1) it needs to be about 1 cm wider for full coverage on a standard 101 keyboard 2) I wish the size of the pad was the same all throughout the length, so that the wrist will have more to rest on when using the numpad 3) It could be squishier/ be more cushiony. It's actually quite stiff for a gel pad. It feels almost like you're resting your wrist on a leather bound book but with a thin layer of padding on it. This could be because its the slim version since there is less gel material. I would imagine the regular thickness version will be better cushioned. Overall, its a great pad and would fit right in on an executive desk because its understated and has a very leathery look and feel to it. Much classier than most gaming focused wrist rests and the price is right.

Comfortable wrist rest for intense use
Size: Keyboard Wrist Rest (Pack of 1), Style: Mechanical & Gaming, Size: Keyboard Wrist Rest (Pack of 1), Style: Mechanical & Gaming
- You don't have to own a mechanical keyboard to grab one of these bad boys. It's suitable for any full size keyboard. - This is ergonomic and really targeting gamers. The left side of the wrist rest offers more cushion for those wasd key strokes. While the right side is much smaller vs other wrist rests Kensington offers so it won't take too much desk space. So it's quite office friendly. - Huge value for money. About $7 bucks cheaper vs the standard keyboard. - Vegan leather exterior. This is the one thing that made me buy the wrist rest. As you can see from my picture, my old wrist rest is made of fabric material. They easily build up slime and all that yuckiness when you type for long period of time. It's so hard to clean up. The leather material is just one wipe away. - Super soft and comfortable. My old wrist rest is hardened memory foam. It's not deformed after years or using, which I appreciate. But it doesn't provide much comfort vs this gel pad wrist rest. I'm so happy I made the switch and bought this. - For whoever said this is stiff or firm for their taste, they obviously haven't used other memory foam wrist rests before. So if you want soft, but not too squishy wrist rest, look expensive for office use, or survive abuse for home use, look no further.

Great except for the bottom
Size: Keyboard Wrist Rest (Pack of 1), Style: Slim
Kensington stuff is always good. I’ve been using it for over two decades. This wrist rest seemed like the best choice for my Apple Magic Keyboard. And it probably is. My complaint is the bottom. It’s made with the assumption you want it in a fixed location on your desk, so the underside is sticky. On the other hand, if you don’t want to leave it stationary, the white backing paper is too slippery. I’d have MUCH preferred a textured rubber underside that helps it stay in place than this. Also, it’s really really black. If you have dandruff, you’re going to notice it falling on here.

Desk Hoteling: Portable Comfort
Size: Keyboard Wrist Rest (Pack of 1), Style: Slim & Compact
New to the desk hoteling scene, I’ve had to find easily transportable ways to increase my comfort level. This has survived multiple backpack edits, which says a ton about this little wrist rest. I love that it is not cloth so I can wipe it down at the end of the day, but it doesn’t stick to your skin. It is the perfect size and thickness for my use. It wasn’t cheap, but it is holding up very well even with the constant travel. This is worth the extra bulk in the laptop backpack.
