The SWINGFIX M PLUS from Britax Römer is a convenient, no-frills car seat that offers great protection for your child from 61-105 cm height and a weight of 20 kg. Thanks to the 90° rotation, seating and harnessing your little one is quick and easy. Featuring our new ISOFIX connectors, the installation is simple and safe.

At the press of a button SWINGFIX M PLUS can be turned towards the open car door, making it easy for you to place your child in the seat and fasten the harness. Afterwards, just turn the seat back into the rearward facing position and your journey can begin.

Rearward facing car seats offer the best protection in the event of a frontal collision – the most frequent type of accident on the roads. In a frontal collision with a rearward facing seat the crash forces are directed to the back of the seat, while the remaining energy is spread evenly across the head, neck and upper body. With a forward facing seat the energy of the impact is distributed differently across the seat structure and restraint system – potentially resulting in more energy impacting on the child’s body. We recommend that children should travel rearward facing for as long as possible.

• Extended rearward facing - Rearward facing car seats offer the best protection in the event of a frontal collision – the most frequent type of accident on the roads.

• Deep, protective side wings - The soft, padded side wings act as a protective cocoon that helps to absorb the force from a side impact, reducing the risk of injuries to your child.

• Easy adjustable headrest and harness - The padded headrest and harness can easily be adjusted with one hand to suit your child’s height. Before you secure your little one in the harness, check to make sure the headrest is in the correct position – just above its shoulders.

• 5-point harness  - Britax Römer believe a 5-point harness is the safest way to secure your child in a car seat because it keeps your child safe and tight in the seat’s protective shell. In the event of a collision, the harness distributes the forces of the impact across 5 points, two at the shoulders, two at the hips and one where the harness buckles between the legs. This helps to protect your child from all directions of impact.

• Soft performance chest pads - The soft performance chest pads fit comfortably on your child’s chest. They help reduce your child’s movement in the event of a collision, and add even greater comfort to the 5-point harness. Plus, they can be easily removed for washing without disturbing the harness.

• Quick-remove cover - Things can get pretty messy on the road. Drinks can spill and children can get car sick. That’s why Britax Römer designed a machine washable seat cover that can easily be taken off without removing the harness, so you can clean up quick and get on your way.

• height adjustable support leg - The support leg provides extra stability for the infant carrier base via the vehicle floor. It minimises the tilting and rotational movement and reduces the forward movement forces exerted on your child in a crash situation, helping to protect them. For a secure installation, the support leg can be adjusted to suit the height that’s best for your car. The easy-to-read indicator shows you when the support leg is positioned firmly on your vehicle’s floor.

• 90 degree rotation - The 90 degree rotation enables you to turn the seat to the open door of a parked car for easy placement and harnessing of your child. Then simply turn the seat back until it clicks into place and you are good to go.

• New ISOFIX connectors - The SWINGFIX M PLUS features new ISOFIX connectors. The connectors can be operated independently of one another and therefore make the installation of the seat even easier.

Remarkable analysis of slaveholding women in Antebellum America
Format: Paperback
Stephanie Jones-Rogers has provided us with a book that looks at the South's "peculiar institution" through a very different lens - the slaveholders/slaveowners, but this analysis looks at women that owned slaves, thus opening up a new avenue of study that I hadn't previously seen. Jones-Rogers offers a well written account that is rich in historical details. She demonstrates through vivid historical evidence that the women that owned enslaved people were primarily driven by economic motives, and that these women were just as demanding and could be just as harsh as the "typical" slaveowner image that has been crafted over the years. The book is organized thematically, and each chapter demonstrates the economic motivation behind slave ownership. The reader is offered views of everything from young children becoming slave owners when their parents "gifted" them an enslaved person, and how these young girls were taught that this was "property" that could be used as desired to how these female slaveholders would sell their slaves to meet their economic goals. All told, this is a fascinating book that uncovers a long ignored slice of Antebellum American history that makes the historiographical literature of pre-Civil War history much richer.

Poignant, truthful look at women as powerful, business-savvy, yet brutal slave owners
Format: Paperback
Women slave owners were the norm in the South, not the exception. They increased in numbers, stature, and power while the men were off fighting the Civil War. Women often owned the slaves, not the men and knew how to sign prenuptial agreements back then to insure they kept all their property (including slaves) upon divorce or death of their spouse. They traded and bought and sold slaves with business savvy that most men envied. And they could be just as brutal towards their slaves. Ironically, it was the ownership of other people that empowered these women to not be bound to their husbands.

Good history, but not fun, engaging in popular literature.
Format: Paperback
The author is a very competent historian, and proves her points. She does so by stating each thesis and then reciting an exceedingly long string of supporting examples. Rinse and repeat. This is high quality, academic style history, but it’s not very engaging as popular literature. No one’s going to say “I couldn’t put it down.” That being said - I liked it! I learned a lot. Thanks.

Should be required
Format: Paperback
In my opinion, this book should be required reading in high school/college history classes. It’s so important to learn accurate history when it comes to slavery and this book does that. White women played a larger role than we are taught. Please give this a read!

No regets
Format: Paperback
This was a good book to read! In school you only learn the male prospective during slavery! I know feel I can say white woman played a major role during slavery times. I like that fact that the Author put in the information to where we can go srwcah and read for ourselves. The visuals where an added touch. I feel like because alot of women of that time couldn't write so alot of information was missing. I feel like this is a must read.
