Hymenocallis 'Wetmax' is Vic's selection from his cross of two North American (Mexico) species, the narrow-leaf Hymenocallis maximilliani and the wide-leaf Hymenocallis imperialis. The result is a vigorous hybrid with intermediate width leaves that remain evergreen until temperature drop below 20 degrees F. The tightly-offsetting clumps are topped, starting for us in late June with 30" tall stalks of fragrant, long-petalled white flowers. Average soil moisture is fine, since both parents are not aquatic.
