The name Philodendron is derived from the Greek words 'philo' (love) and 'dendron' (tree). This classic plant is one of the most popular houseplants. Besides being easy to care for, the Philodendron is an air-purifying plant.

Origin

De Philodendron Mamei is originally from Ecuador. This Philodendron} gets large green leaves, accented by a silver pattern. The deep veins add to the beautiful effect. The petioles have a graceful wavy edge and are reddish with green in color with very subtle white streaks. This unusual decoration is an absolute feast for the eyes!

Growing Style

This is a creeping Philodendron, not a climber. The growth rate and leaf color of Philodendron Mamei can vary greatly depending on substrate, sunlight, temperature and other factors.

Herkomst Philodendron

There are about 400 species of Philodendrons, a member of the arum family (Araceae). First described in 1644, the plant did not receive an official name until 1829. The Philodendron family is a large one, with plants of various shapes, sizes and colors. Philodendrons can be divided into two basic categories: climbing and non-climbing plants. The non-climbing plants are also sometimes found high up in trees in nature. When a seed germinates in the hollow of a tall branch, the plant manages to provide itself with sufficient nutrients and water with its roots.

Air purification

The Philodendron is particularly effective at helping purify the air we breathe. To take advantage of its air-purifying properties, place at least one Philodendron on every 10 m² and let it do what it naturally does.

Substrate

Like other Araceae, this Philodendron can be kept as a houseplant. This plant prefers permeable soil that should be kept evenly moist but never wet.

Light and location.

De Philodendron mamei grows best when provided with bright filtered sunlight. As a matter of fact, she handles a lot of shade better than other houseplants. However, you will notice that she will then grow more slowly .

Temperature

Philodendron plants can be kept in an ambient temperature of 15°C - 25°C. Be sure to avoid cold temperatures.

Repot

Philodendrons grow very well in a pot. When doing so, do leave enough room for growth. Remember the looser the roots, the larger and healthier your plant will be. When the plant becomes root-bound, its growth will slow down. At that point, it is time for a larger pot. You can occasionally give the plant diluted fertilizer as nutrition. This will stimulate the growth of the plant.

Easy to operate.
Color: Black/Battery
Very easy to operate. I was a little confused on how it operated but all I had to do is sit it on top of the can and it operates by itself. When it is done, the lid can be removed or set on top of the can. It doesn't leave any sharp edges. I was using a hand held one but because I have arthritis in my wrist, it is worth the price easy enough for seniors or disabled

Only worked for 1 month.
Color: Black/Battery
This product was delivered on April 20th and worked great. It made a nice clean cut in the metal with no sharp edges and the top of the can lifted up nicely. Yesterday, May 24th, it stopped cutting and unfortunately, the return window closed on May 20th.

Opens the can weird, but functional
Color: Black/Battery
Ehhh it’s easy to use and gets it open, my only issue is that it doesn’t open a can like a regular can opener where it is cut on top of the can and you can push it in the can to drain if needed. Rather it cuts the outside of the can as it spins around, so it doesn’t fit inside the can. Not very handy when you’re opening a can of tuna and want to drain the tuna juice, so I had to keep my manual one, that I was trying to get rid of by buying this electric one 🙃
