What Makes SWISS GOLD Special?

Bispyribac Sodium 10% SC is one of the few rice herbicides that handles all three weed problems together. It does 3 jobs in one spray:

  • Kills paddy grasses: Sanwa/Sawan (Echinochloa colona, E. crus-galli), Barnyard grass, Chinese sprangletop, Dactyloctenium
  • Kills paddy sedges: Motha (Cyperus difformis, C. iria), Fimbristylis, Eleocharis — sedges that survive most other herbicides
  • Kills paddy broadleaf weeds: Bhringraj (Eclipta), Caesulia, Ammania, Monochoria, Ludwigia, Sphenoclea

This 3-in-1 weed control is why Bispyribac Sodium has become the most widely used post-emergent rice herbicide in India.

SWISS GOLD vs Pretilachlor vs Pyrazosulfuron  Which Should Paddy Farmers Use? Pretilachlor is pre-emergent  sprayed 3 to 5 days after transplanting before weeds emerge. Pyrazosulfuron targets sedges and broadleaf only — does not control major grasses. Bispyribac Sodium 10% SC (SWISS GOLD) is post-emergent and controls all three weed types after weeds have emerged. Best practice: use Pretilachlor as pre-emergent insurance, then SWISS GOLD as the post-emergent rescue spray for escaped weeds. Compare alternatives: Pyrazosulfuron Ethyl 10% WP | Fenoxaprop-P-Ethyl 9.3% EC.

How Does Bispyribac Sodium Work?

Bispyribac Sodium is a systemic ALS inhibitor (HRAC Group B). It works in 4 steps:

  • Foliar + root absorption: Enters weeds through leaves and roots within minutes of spraying
  • Systemic translocation: Moves through the plant's xylem and phloem to growing points
  • Blocks ALS enzyme: Inhibits Acetolactate Synthase enzyme — without this enzyme, the weed cannot make essential branched-chain amino acids (leucine, isoleucine, valine)
  • Growth stoppage and death: Weed growth stops within 24 to 48 hours; full death in 10 to 14 days

Rice plants are naturally resistant to Bispyribac Sodium because of their internal detoxification capacity. That is why this herbicide kills the weeds without harming the rice crop.

 Important Precautions & Compatibility:
  • Do not spray on submerged weeds  drain field 24 hours before application.
  • Do not mix with 2,4-D, MCPA, or other phenoxy herbicides in the same tank  incompatible.
  • Maintain 4 to 7 day gap between Bispyribac and other ALS inhibitor herbicides (like Pyrazosulfuron) to avoid stunting.
  • Do not apply if rice is under stress (drought, disease, fertilizer burn, pest damage).
  • Compatible with most insecticides and fungicides  do a small jar test before tank-mixing.
  • Safe for rice when applied at recommended dose between 15 and 25 DAT.

Why Farmers Choose Krishikranti SWISS GOLD

  • 3-in-1 control: Grasses + sedges + broadleaf weeds in one spray  saves cost of multiple herbicides

  • Wide weed spectrum: Controls 15+ paddy weeds including hard-to-kill Sanwa, Motha, and Bhringraj
  • Safe for rice: No yield loss when applied at recommended dose and stage
  • Works in transplanted + DSR: One herbicide for both rice cultivation systems
  • Fast weed kill: Visible weed yellowing in 4 to 6 days; complete kill in 10 to 14 days
  • Proven alternative to Nominee Gold: Same molecule, same efficacy, better value

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. What is Bispyribac Sodium 10% SC used for? Bispyribac Sodium 10% SC is a selective post-emergent herbicide for paddy/rice. It controls grasses (Sanwa, Barnyard grass), sedges (Motha, Fimbristylis), and broadleaf weeds (Bhringraj, Caesulia) in one spray. Safe for both transplanted and direct-seeded rice.
Q. What is the dose of Bispyribac Sodium per acre? The recommended dose is 100 ml per acre dissolved in 150 to 200 litres of water. For high weed pressure, use up to 120 ml per acre. Per hectare: 250 ml.
Q. How much Bispyribac Sodium to mix in 15 litre pump? Mix 25 to 30 ml of Bispyribac Sodium 10% SC per 15 litre knapsack pump. Shake the bottle well before measuring. One acre needs roughly 4 pumps.
Q. How much Bispyribac Sodium per litre of water? Approximately 2 ml per litre of water. For knapsack pump, this works out to 25 to 30 ml in 15 litres.
Q. When should I spray Bispyribac Sodium in paddy? For transplanted rice: 15 to 25 days after transplanting (DAT). For direct-seeded rice: 15 to 20 days after sowing (DAS). Weeds should be at 2 to 4 leaf stage. Drain field 24 hours before spray.
Q. Is Bispyribac Sodium safe for rice? Yes. Rice plants are naturally resistant to Bispyribac Sodium because they detoxify it internally. When applied at recommended dose (100 ml/acre) and stage (15 to 25 DAT), it kills weeds without harming the rice crop.
Q. Which weeds does Bispyribac Sodium control? It controls all three weed types in paddy — grasses (Echinochloa/Sanwa, Barnyard grass, Leptochloa), sedges (Cyperus/Motha, Fimbristylis, Eleocharis), and broadleaf (Eclipta/Bhringraj, Caesulia, Monochoria, Ammania, Sphenoclea).
Q. Bispyribac Sodium vs Pretilachlor vs Pyrazosulfuron — which is better? Pretilachlor is pre-emergent (sprayed before weeds emerge, 3 to 5 DAT). Pyrazosulfuron controls only sedges and broadleaf. Bispyribac Sodium is post-emergent and controls all three weed types — grasses, sedges, and broadleaf. Best practice: use Pretilachlor as pre-emergent, then Bispyribac as the post-emergent rescue spray.
Q. SWISS GOLD vs Nominee Gold — what is the difference? Both contain the same active ingredient: Bispyribac Sodium 10% SC. Nominee Gold (PI Industries) is the original brand. Krishikranti SWISS GOLD offers the same molecule, same efficacy, and same dose at better value for farmers.
Q. Can I mix Bispyribac Sodium with 2,4-D in the same tank? No. Do not tank-mix Bispyribac Sodium with 2,4-D, MCPA, or other phenoxy herbicides — they are chemically incompatible and reduce weed control. Spray them separately with a 7-day gap.
Q. How long does Bispyribac Sodium take to kill weeds? Weed growth stops within 24 to 48 hours of spraying. Visible yellowing in 4 to 6 days. Complete weed kill in 10 to 14 days. The field stays weed-free for 30 to 45 days after spray.
Q. Is SWISS GOLD safe for basmati and hybrid rice? Yes. SWISS GOLD is safe for all rice varieties including basmati, hybrid rice, and traditional varieties when applied at the recommended dose and stage. No yield loss, no quality issue, no off-flavour in basmati.
Q. Is Bispyribac Sodium 10% SC CIB & RC approved in India? Yes. Bispyribac Sodium 10% SC is CIB & RC approved in India for use in paddy/rice for the control of grasses, sedges, and broadleaf weeds.

Nice functional printer at a low price-point
Style: WF-3820
At this price-point, the WF-3820 is a winner for a home printer with not much printing volume. It prints well. It was easy to set up the printer and wireless printing from a couple of computers. It uses ink cartridges. While Epson goes to great lengths to advertise/tout its cartridge-free printer models, if you don't print a lot this unit will do fine for you. Did I mention that it's relatively cheap? Has a fax function, but I don't have a landline anymore. It is a bit tall, and you have to open the scanner to access the ink cartridges; so beware if you're putting it in a cabinet or shelf without some decent head room.

Good Printer
Style: WF-3820
Given the 'not so good' reviews, I was a little apprehensive to buy this printer at first. This replaces a WF3620, in which I was very happy with its performance. But the print head began to print only Yellow and Black, and several attempts to 'unclog' the Cyan and Magenta nossles proved unsuccessful. But, I am very happy with the WF3820 - both with the price and the performance. It is faster and the graphics are clear and sharp. The 'jury' is still out on how much toner it uses, but suspect it is around the same as with the WF3620. If so, then I will retain my 5 Star rating.

Good printer ... Until Epson bricked it with Firmware
Style: WF-3820
Bought this as a replacement for a small office HP that died on us. It is a good machine. Nice features at a reasonable cost. Good color, full duplex, excellent scanning, and reasonable speed. The drivers are fairly crappy in that they constantly want to update and are poorly written and appear to send too much data home. (max out two cores on a modern i7 for a tiny printer driver update.) Overall a good machine and excellent for the price. Epson ink is ridiculously priced so went with high quality refurbished ink cartridges. Worked great at a good price. Fast forward to July 2022. Epson pushes firmware update for "performance, stability, and security updates" that seems harmless. Who doesn't install newer firmware when it is offered? After the firmware update the printer claimed that the ink cartridges were faulty and refused to function. Turns out that the printer is now a brick until I buy genuine Epson ink refills at an exorbitant price. Turns out the company has had a number of class actions against them in the past for this very shady practice. Time to write up some copy for social media and contact a lawyer. It should be illegal to remove capabilities from a product that has been bought and paid for and working for months. Certainly I will never buy another Epson product and neither will anyone at my company.

Good quality , almost perfect.
Style: WF-3820
I would give it a 5 star if it stayed connected. It can be temperamental at times connecting to the wifi. Once it's connected it works great. The app for the phone works flawlessly and it sends it relatively quick but if you have multiple pages to scan sometimes the printer freezes up. Causing a heartache and delay or needing to reset the printer. Overall it's a nice printer and compact in size .
