The trifasciata is the most common of all Sansevieria as far as home cultivation is concerned. It is also known as tiger's tongue, mother-in-law's tongue, or snake plant among many other names, and it is a species also native to Tropical Africa .

Its distinctive leaves are variegated and grow with a pronounced upright habit, reaching up to one and a half meters in length and 10 cm in width. The flowers, which appear in clusters slightly more than half the length of the leaves, are light in color and produce small orange berries.

Within the Sansevieria trifasciata itself, two widespread varieties are distinguished: Sansevieria trifasciata var Hahnii and the Sansevieria trifasciata var Laurentii . The first is a very small variety, less than 40 cm tall, with wide, short, light green leaves, while the second is much larger and is distinguished by the yellow edge of its leaves and the horizontal pattern.
