These leaves are greyish-green in color, edged with white serrated 'teeth', and take on a beautiful red hue during winter. The showy, fiery red flowers sprout from erect, branched racemes in mid winter. This stunning Madagascan native is highly drought-tolerant, and does well in most climates and soils. Plant Aloe vaombe in full sun, and water sparingly once established; however, frequent irrigation encourages faster growth. In hot, inland areas, filtered light is beneficial. It can endure temperatures as low as 30F, but severe damage may be sustained below 26F.
