Aglaonema Silver Queen, also known as the Chinese evergreen, stands out from all other Aglaonemas by its almost entirely silver foliage — the green veins remain subtle, allowing the bright metallic reflections to dominate and brighten even dimly lit rooms. Native to the tropical forests of Southeast Asia, it combines visual elegance with exceptional robustness. Discover our full Aglaonema collection and our guide to plants for low-light rooms.

Its remarkable tolerance to low light makes it one of the few decorative silver-leaf plants suitable for challenging spaces — hallways, windowless offices, north-facing rooms. Our beginner’s guide explains why Aglaonema is one of the most recommended plants to start with.

Exposure & Location

Aglaonema Silver Queen prefers low to medium indirect light and remarkably tolerates shade — this is one of its main strengths. Direct sunlight quickly burns its leaves and dulls its silver reflections.

  • Exposure: low to medium indirect light — tolerates shade, avoid direct sunlight.
  • Ideal for: living room, bedroom, office, entryway, dimly lit hallway.
  • Temperature: 18 to 25 °C, without cold drafts or sudden changes.
  • Substrate: light and well-draining — indoor plant potting mix with perlite.

Watering & Care

  • Watering: moderate — allow the top 2 to 3 centimeters of substrate to dry out between waterings. Aglaonema tolerates slight underwatering better than overwatering. Our light and humidity guide helps you find the right balance.
  • Frequency: about once a week in summer, every 10 to 14 days in winter.
  • Water: use non-calcareous water at room temperature — lime deposits leave white marks on the silver foliage.
  • Fertilizer: once a month in spring and summer, balanced liquid fertilizer diluted by half.
  • Cleaning: regularly wipe leaves with a damp cloth to preserve the metallic shine.

Decor Ideas & Plant Combinations

Its bright silver reflections make it an ideal accent plant in dark spaces — it brings visual light where few plants can.

  • Color contrast: pair it with a Zamioculcas with very dark green foliage and a bright silver Sansevieria Moonshine — three low-light tolerant plants, three shades of green and silver, a coherent and low-maintenance composition.
  • In an Aglaonema collection: pair it with the Aglaonema Silver Bay with large bicolor green and silver leaves — two silver varieties, two different patterns, same genus.
  • Decorative pot: a matte ceramic in white, light gray, or beige highlights the silver reflections without competing — avoid metallic tones that create visual confusion with the foliage.

Verdeia Tips

  • Non-calcareous water is essential: lime deposits visibly dull the silver reflections of the foliage — use filtered water or water left for 24 hours in an open container.
  • Ideal for difficult spaces: dark hallway, windowless office, north-facing room — Aglaonema Silver Queen withstands conditions where most decorative plants would wither.
  • The less you water it, the better it fares: slightly dry substrate is much less risky than soggy substrate — always wait until the top 2 to 3 centimeters are dry before watering.

It’s half the size of the last one that I purchased. It’s hard to tell from the pictures sometimes.
Should always check the dimensions of items because the pictures can mislead you sometimes The bonus is a great product. It lasts a long time and it doesn’t break. I give this product five stars excellent but the size I purchased is for a smaller dog. Best Bone is what Wakanda growled. Thanks everybody 🚀🇺🇸

Holds up really well under an extreme chewer
Size: Dumbbell
My dog is only 18 lbs , he can chew through anything. This little not so little chew toy has held up really well and keeps him occupied... although the blue rubbery part does break off in little tiny pieces it is not breaking off in big chunks, it has lasted more than 2 months at this point. He has been able to put some dents and dings in the plastic Center, but again considering he destroys everything in a matter of moments I'm very pleased with this. Quality is good, and he likes to carry it around the house... also found out if he turns it it makes a funny little noise which keeps them entertained. Perfect size for my dogs. The wait is Hefty enough that he knows he's carrying it but not so big and weighted that he doesn't enjoy it.
