It is a Japanese selection of a dense dwarf to 4-6 ft with pink and white flecking throughout the tiny leaves. This true dwarf grows about 3-4 inches per year. There is nothing like it, nor is there another upright so dwarf and so variegated. Variegation on 'Ryugu' appears to be fairly stable. This tree makes a great tree for container culture, small landscapes, conifer beds, rock gardens, fairy gardens, and rail-road gardens. 'Ryugu' translates as "Dragon Palace Castle" showing how this sophisticated tree will add class to your unique landscape.
