Just my luck, I'd manage to hit one of the few remaining windows in the entirety of Tin Pan Alley. But good riddance to it. I hope whoever finds it can hawk it fast enough to pay for any damage I did. That's if they can sell it before he gets to them.

Though that's not a certainty, even if Lor can home right in on it. If he manages to track it there, then he'll be too busy getting stabbed to death by Astranik the Lame's goons to come after me. Not a lot of people of his caliber ever enter the place and come out with more than they went in with. They should count themselves lucky to leave at all.

There are many desperate and hungry people there, and half of them will stab you just for looking at them. It's no place for a refined gentleman to go. I wait a moment, wondering if I'll hear a tussle or a fight or if I will see a bunch of heavily armed guards rushing to my silo. 

But the night air is only filled with the sound of partygoers or whores and flesh mongers calling out to potential Johns as they walk by.

I turn back and walk into my little hideaway, safe in the knowledge that I managed to get rid of that thing fast enough to throw Lor off my trail. I'm about to shuck out of my clothes and get ready for bed when the air in the room starts to feel... heavy, almost like it does before a storm.

But instead of rain, a swirling vortex appears in midair, and Lor steps out of it.

He looks down at me and says, "I told you, you can't escape me."
