Southern Red Oak Seedlings for Sale (Quercus Falcata)

Noticed from the very beginning, Southern Red Oak Tree Seedlings start off strong with a thick stem that hints towards what the stately tree will become. Known by its scientific name Quercus falcata, this southeastern native can be found growing wild all up and down the coast in a variety of landscapes.

It is an incredibly durable tree valued for its dense timber bark. The foliage puts on a lovely show towards the end of the summer as it transitions into incredibly bold fall color.

Southern Red Oak Tree Seedling Plant Details

Family: Fagaceae

Light Requirement: Full Sun

Water Needs: Low - Moderate

Height: 60-80 ft.

Spread: 50-60 ft.

Growth Rate: Moderate - Fast

Bloom Time: Spring

Flower Color: Yellow, green

Wildlife Value: Provide crucial food to animals, host native moth and butterfly larvae

This hardy tree can tolerate a variety of soils, often growing wild in poor-quality upland conditions. It grows optimally when given access to full sun and well-draining soil. After some years of seedling establishment, this tree can tolerate some drought.

Because of its native preference for the south, it has very good heat tolerance compared to other oaks. Upon maturity, this tree will form acorns that take two full growing seasons to mature. The small, hairy acorns produced are a favorite food source for wildlife such as turkeys and squirrels.

Landscape Uses and Maintenance

As a hardy tree, it is wonderfully low-maintenance. It is recommended to mulch around the base of the newly planted sapling to help lock in moisture in the early days but be sure to leave some inches of space around the trunk.

Because Southern Red Oak Seedlings can tolerate dry and rocky soils once established, this tree is a common choice for areas that need stabilization. The strong, iconic wood of this tree lends itself to being a common product in the timber industry.

Noteworthy Characteristics of Southern Red Oak Tree Seedling

The lobed leaves of Southern Red Oak Seedlings are easily recognizable compared to those of other oak species. True to its species name falcata, meaning sickle-shaped, the leaves have noticeable bristles on the end of each curved lobe. The underside of each leaf is pale and slightly fuzzy upon close inspection.

These things are the best balls you can buy. My dog loves playing with them and chewing on them. And she has never popped one they are a great purchase if your dog usually pops other balls. These are solid and light weight

Perfect playtime ball
Color: Yellow
We’ve had these balls for almost a year and still have all of them. They’ve been to the lake, countless dog parks, and chewed on at home and they’re all still in perfect condition. Our dog is a 70lb English shepherd who’s no stranger to ruining balls

My dog destroyed this ball within 10-15 minutes of use. He is a 65 lb German Shepherd. I do not recommend these balls for aggressive chewers.
