Dracaena surculosa, commonly known as the Gold Dust Dracaena or Spotted Dracaena, is an elegant, bushy plant with lance-shaped, glossy green leaves speckled with cream or gold spots. Unlike many other Dracaena varieties, this species has a more shrubby, spreading growth habit, with slender, upright canes from which the leaves emerge. The plant remains relatively compact, usually growing to around 60–90 cm tall indoors, making it a perfect choice for tabletops or indoor plant groupings. It can occasionally produce small, white, fragrant flowers, though it is primarily grown for its striking foliage.

This plant is particularly appreciated for its adaptability to lower light conditions and ease of care, which makes it suitable for a wide range of indoor environments. Its variegated leaves bring a lively touch to any space, without requiring high-maintenance care.

Native to
Dracaena surculosa is native to the tropical rainforests of West and Central Africa, particularly in countries like Nigeria and Cameroon. In its natural habitat, it grows in the shaded understorey, where it benefits from consistent moisture and indirect light.

Water
Water Dracaena surculosa when the top few centimetres of soil are dry. Ensure the plant’s soil drains well, as it is prone to root rot if left in standing water. It is more drought-tolerant than some houseplants, but keeping the soil lightly moist, especially during the growing season, will promote healthier growth.

Light
This plant thrives in bright, indirect light but can tolerate lower light conditions, making it ideal for rooms that don’t receive a lot of sunlight. However, in very low light, the gold spots on the leaves may fade. Avoid placing it in direct sunlight, which can scorch the leaves and cause browning.

Humidity
Dracaena surculosa prefers moderate humidity levels, typically between 40% and 60%. It tolerates normal indoor humidity. Higher humidity levels will help prevent leaf tip browning and keep the foliage vibrant.

Temperature
This plant prefers temperatures between 18°C and 26°C, typical of indoor environments. It should be kept away from cold drafts or temperatures below 13°C, which can stunt growth or cause leaf damage. Avoid placing it near radiators or air conditioning units to prevent sudden temperature changes.

Happy w/ quality of second purchase
I recieved a beautiful copy of Ethan Smith's 2nd Edition (1825) of View of the Hebrews. This edition includes the fascinating Quetzalcoatl... aka "Christ in America" content that I was looking to study. ***E. Smith's belief that biblical prophesy and cultural "evidences" prove that the Native American tribes found by the Europeans (Gentiles) were descended from the lost Tribes of Isreal. This narrative is later expounded on in the 1830 Book of Mormon*** I re-ordered this book in paperback version. This softcover version was not a photocopy of the original book as was the case when I ordered the hardcover version some time ago. Fantastic readable quality this time around! Original Hardcover Review: Poor photocopied pages. I opened the nice hard cover... I can read the words- but the book's pages are messy in a gross, unthoughtful way. The publisher didn't care about quality of pages at all- Quality ended once I opened the pleasant hardcover binding.

Very interesting reading.
Very interesting reading. He gives a very different picture (and more accurate picture, I'm sure) of the Indians in North and South Americas than what we've been told in our history books. They could very well be the lost tribes of Israel.
