Why parents love SnoozeShade Plus Deluxe

Parents love SnoozeShade Plus Deluxe because it gives little ones in the stroller seat reliable sun protection and an easy way to nap on the go, with one feature no other shade has: it is whisper-quiet to open and close.

The Deluxe fastens with the only baby-safe certified poppers in the world, so there is no ripping sound to wake a sleeping baby, just a soft, gentle pop. It is the version parents choose for noise-sensitive little ones. It is made from premium EziBreez® air-permeable mesh, structured with a black inner layer and a silver-grey outer: lightweight, beautifully made, and better than breathable, because the mesh is tested to rigorous air-permeability standards.

What it does

SnoozeShade Plus Deluxe works two ways, depending on whether your child is awake or napping.

  • Shade mode: the single-layer black inner panel lets your child see out while blocking up to 80% of UV, plus wind, light rain, chill and insects. Ideal for everyday strolls, school runs and days out.
  • Snooze mode: add the silver-grey outer snooze panel and secure it with the quiet baby-safe poppers to create a darker, distraction-free space that blocks up to 94% of light and up to 97.5% of UV (UPF 40+), helping your little one nap wherever you are.

A discreet sleeping-baby emblem quietly asks passers-by not to disturb your little one, and the sneak-a-peek zip lets you check on them without letting light in. Both panels roll up and tuck neatly into the integrated front pocket when you are not using them.

What it's ideal for

SnoozeShade Plus Deluxe is for any child who is in the stroller seat, whatever their age. What matters is the seat, not how old they are. If your little one is in the stroller seat, this is the shade for them. If they are lying flat in a carrycot or pram, that is what the Original is for.

It fits any single-width pram, pushchair or jogging stroller with a hood, including popular frames like the Babyzen YoYo, Bugaboo, iCandy and UppaBaby. It also works on tandems (one per seat) and some side-by-side double buggies, depending on the frame.

Many families use it for years. Cara, the inventor of SnoozeShade, used hers on and off until her daughter was five, for naps on holiday, long days out and evenings in busy restaurants.

Why shade matters

The World Health Organization advises seeking shade once the UV index reaches 3 or above. In the UK that often means most of the day from April to September, and UV passes through cloud and reflects off concrete, water, sand and even snow, so a child can be exposed even when it feels cool.

Parasols and canopies rarely cover a child fully and do nothing about reflected UV. SnoozeShade Plus Deluxe is made with our EziBreez® mesh and gives UPF 40+ protection, blocking up to 97.5% of UV, across the top and sides, which is where the sun actually reaches a child in a stroller seat. The single-layer front panel lets them see out and blocks up to 80%, and that is the direction the sun is least likely to come from.

How it helps toddlers and preschoolers sleep

Toddlers are alert, easily overstimulated and far too interested in the world to want to switch off, which makes naps on the go hard. Pop on the snooze panel and it creates a calm, shady cocoon that blurs distractions and helps them wind down, like a sensory reset from movement, light and noise.

It is especially loved on holidays, days out and during travel, because it heads off overtiredness before it starts. Many parents tell us it has become part of their child's nap routine, a cue that it is time to sleep even in a new place.

Why daytime naps matter (even for older children)

It is a myth that only babies need naps. Most toddlers and many preschoolers still benefit from daytime sleep, especially during growth spurts, travel or starting nursery. Sleep supports brain development, mood and behaviour, and overtired children are more prone to tantrums, fussy eating and broken nights.

Even the occasional nap on a long day out is worth having, and SnoozeShade makes those easier to get.

Why SnoozeShade Plus Deluxe was invented

SnoozeShade started with a simple idea: help babies sleep safely and comfortably in their pram wherever they are. The Original was made for newborns lying flat, but as babies grow and move into the stroller seat, they need something different: a single-layer front panel to see out while awake, and a snooze panel to block distractions at naptime.

The Deluxe came about for one specific reason. Parents kept telling us they had woken their baby simply by opening the shade, so we created a version that fastens with quiet baby-safe poppers. No ripping sound, so you can peek in or close up without that tell-tale noise that ends a nap.

It also shades the eyes and skin of babies who will not keep sunglasses on, and it doubles as a built-in insect and mosquito net, so there is no need to pack a separate one. And while your little one can see out, others find it hard to see in, which helps an overstimulated toddler settle. We manage all of this without any chemical treatments or coatings.

Safety and airflow

Safety came first when SnoozeShade was designed, and it still does.

You may have seen advice warning against covering a pram, and that advice is worth taking seriously. It is about covers that trap heat and restrict airflow. SnoozeShade is the opposite: it is made from EziBreez® air-permeable mesh, tested to rigorous air-permeability standards and shown to let air flow freely even when fully closed. There is no sealed air chamber and no greenhouse effect, just constant airflow supported by natural convection. On very hot days, push your pram hood back slightly, not all the way, so warm air can rise and escape through the mesh, and add a pram fan for extra comfort.

The safety details that matter:

  • Made from EziBreez® mesh: air-permeable, blocks up to 97.5% of UV with both panels, and gentle enough that even a newborn could breathe against it.
  • Fastens with the only baby-safe certified poppers in the world, with no long straps, toggles, magnets or buttons, so nothing that could pose a choking, strangulation or entrapment risk.
  • No toxic dyes or chemicals. Every part is tested to the same standards as a newborn toy, including heavy metals and flammability.
  • The only range of pram and sleep shades approved by INPAA, the Infant and Nursery Products Alliance of Australia, the country's leading nursery safety authority.
  • Trusted by over half a million families and recommended by sleep consultants, safety experts and health professionals worldwide.

We have run 24-hour in-pram heat tests with data loggers and found no temperature build-up, and parents in hot climates like Australia, the UAE and Southern Europe have used SnoozeShade safely since 2010.

☀️ Top tip for warm weather

For extra comfort in hot weather, pair your SnoozeShade with a portable pram fan. It keeps air moving and helps your baby stay comfortable in warm weather.

FAQs

Will it fit my buggy, pushchair or stroller?

Yes. It fits any single-width buggy, pushchair, travel stroller or jogging stroller with a hood, including frames like the Babyzen YoYo, Bugaboo, iCandy and UppaBaby. It also works on tandems and some side-by-side doubles, depending on the frame. Not sure about yours? Send us a message and we'll check.

What's the difference between the Plus Deluxe & Plus Extra?

We get that question a lot, so we have written this blog post to answer it. In short, the Deluxe uses our quiet baby-safe poppers and a premium silver-grey outer mesh, making it the pick for noise-sensitive babies.

Why poppers instead of straps?

The Deluxe uses the only baby-safe certified poppers in the world. They open and close with a soft, quiet pop rather than the ripping sound of hook-and-loop, so you are far less likely to wake a sleeping baby. It is the version we recommend for noise-sensitive little ones.

Can I use it with my stroller seat reclined?

Absolutely. It works whatever position your seat is in.

Do I need to leave it on all the time?

Not at all. It folds down into a free storage pouch that slips into your changing bag or buggy basket.

Can I wash it?

Yes. Machine wash at 30 degrees, then hang to dry or tumble dry on a low heat. It dries quickly, so it is ready to use again fast.

Easiest set up ever
Configuration: Fire TV Stick 4K Plus
I was one of those people who thought “I already have a smart TV, why would I ever need a firestick”. Boy was I wrong. If you’ve used these Smart TV UIs you know they can be notoriously laggy. This is a major upgrade visually and performance wise. Super easy to set up, and this is able to stream from Steam PC!

Before Fire TV, I was an old TV Curmedgeon
Configuration: Fire TV Stick 4K Plus
I have a Samsung Smart TV. I stream with You Tube TV. I watch Sox on the MLB app. I'm worried about getting into heaven because of all my swearing at technology. Samsung made me sign in once or twice a week, a huge task for an 84 year old using a remote clicker. YouTube TV has been nothing but a technology headache. And for an old man, I'm pretty hip with tech. Then there's my chair side JBL speaker which would often not connect. I'd have to restart my TV or re-pair it. The whole ball of wax drove me to up my IPA consumption and made me into a potty mouth. Then I got the Fire TV Stick. It's early on but it does seem to be an absolute game changer. Very user friendly. I got the HDMI USB power module and have also plugged direct into an outlet. Either is good. Right now, I'm using HDMI #3 to power my TV. Had to charge it overnight but all works well. All the technology fussing is over. No more having to sign in. No more problems navigating between live and recorded TV or to MOB and back. I'm very happy. Thank you Amazon. I think St. Pete might now let me in. Not too soon, I hope.

Great Streamer, But Remote Needs Work
I’ve been using the Firestick 4K for a while now and overall, I'm quite pleased with its performance and ease of use. The setup was a breeze, and I really appreciate the consistent user interface it provides across all my TVs, which is especially helpful for my wife. However, I have a serious issue with the remote. It feels cheap and flimsy, and honestly, the removal of the IR Blaster is baffling. I don't understand how this design made it to market, as it complicates setup for those of us with soundbars or surround systems that connect via optical cables. Additionally, the dedicated app buttons are a real annoyance. I often find myself accidentally launching other apps instead of streaming my preferred content on YouTube TV. I wish there were an option to disable them or even assign them to apps I actually use. If you're considering this device and can find it on sale for about $25, it's worth it for the streaming capabilities, but be prepared to navigate a frustrating remote experience.
