Common Name: Bird's Nest Fern Nidus, Birds Nest Fern Nidus, Bird's Nest Fern, Birds Nest Fern

Scientific Name: Asplenium nidus

This particular variety of bird's nest fern will, when mature, produce large lance-shaped leaves that are smooth to the touch.

-Care Recommendations By The Dude-

Best for These Animals: Small and medium sized reptiles and amphibians; a particular favorite of tree frogs and other arboreal (tree dwelling) animals, when mounted in high humidity environments.

Bio Dude Substrates: TerraFlora, TerraFauna, TerraFirma

Soil Depth: All soil depths with proper drainage

Lighting: Low to medium indirect light.  Placement directly under a heat or basking lamp may result in burnt leaves.

Humidity & Misting: 40%-100%, with higher humidity levels suggested for optimal growth.

Mature Plant Size & Root System: These easy-to-grow ferns have sturdy fronds that will keep flushing growth from the center, creating a "bird's nest" appearance of foliage.  They can grow up to a foot or two wide, but the size can be managed with selective pruning.  They have very shallow fibrous root systems that allows for a surprising amount of anchorage with this fern.

Temperature Tolerance & Placement in the Terrarium: Too high temperatures/low humidity may cause leaves to brown.  Best used as a front (low) groundcover, underplanting, or mounted (only in high humidity conditions).

Edible & Side Effects if Ingested: Non-toxic if consumed, though these are typically used for ornamental, not edible, purposes.

Pot Size & Packaging: A single 4" potted bird's nest fern plant is shipped in the pot, wrapped in paper.

Three books in one....
Format: Paperback
This is a three books in one. Could You Survive The Cretaceous Period, Could You Survive The Jurassic Period, and Could You Survive The Ice Age? It’s a LOT of fun. The last book is, in fact, split into three stories. As you get to try to survive in North America, Europe, and Australia. I enjoyed all the setting. Though I have to be honest I failed to return to the modern time from the Jurassic period. Trapped!!!! And…my friends in the book had a kid. I hope that does not destroy the timeline. But I enjoyed it. It reminded me a lot of the old Time Machine books.

They choose reading over screen time!
Format: Paperback
The nephews (10 & 8) love these kinds of books! I bought the prehistoric one as well and after they were done they swapped to continue their adventures! They're asking for more and choose the books over screen time! I'd say thats a win for the Aunt!

Awesome!
Format: Hardcover
This was an awesome book with a focus on friendship and family which isn't seen often enough in YA. If you liked Who's That Girl, you'll love this music infused book. I have a full review for this book posted on my blog: Reading, Writing, And Me.
