Dioscorea alata, commonly known as purple yam, is a root vegetable with a stunning lavender color and goes by many names, including Edible Purple Yam, Filipino Purple Yam, Jamaican Moonshine Yam, and Indian Ratalu. It is highly versatile and has a delightful taste.
What is Ube Yam
Ube Purple Yam is a vigorous, fast-growing plant with heart-shaped leaves that can fill in spaces or cover unsightly structures in your landscape. It is easy to care for and thrives in USDA plant hardiness zones 6-10. Harvest and replant tubers each year to prevent overgrowth. This naturally occurring species of yam from tropical Asia is a popular dessert or dessert flavoring, and a dietary staple in Africa. It stands out with its vibrant bright lavender color.
How to Grow a Purple Yam
1 Install a sturdy, 8- to 10-foot-tall trellis along the edge of the bed to accommodate the purple yam vines. Or, create the bed along the edge of an existing structure such as a fence or shed. Using a shorter trellis is fine as long as you prune the vines regularly in summer.
2 Lean the tips of the vines against the base of the trellis to help guide their growth. Side-dress around each purple yam vine with a 2-inch-thick layer of compost once they are tall enough to reach the trellis.
3 Water purple yam vines deeply once a week. Run a garden hose at the base of each vine until the soil feels moist at a depth of 3 inches. Increase water to twice weekly during periods of extended drought, which will keep the tubers from dehydrating and splitting open.
4 Prune back the tips of purple yam vines if they outgrow the trellis. Snip off the excess growth with pruning shears and discard it. Make the cut just above a set of leaves to encourage side growth, which will give the plant a fuller appearance.
5 Pluck off and discard the brown, half-moon shaped bulbils that appear along the vines during the summer to keep the plant from self-propagating. Pull off the bulbils by hand and burn them or throw them in the trash. Do not throw put them into green waste cans or compost bins because they will take root.
6 Harvest the tubers for eating or replanting in late summer, once the vine has stopped growing. Dig up the tubers. Reserve some for eating and replant the others 2 feet apart and 2 inches deep in the same bed. Amend the soil with a 4-inch layer of compost before replanting the purple yam tubers.

In Containers
Plant a sprouted tuber slip in a large container set in front of a sturdy trellis or other support structure. If desired, set additional containers at 10-foot intervals along the support structure for additional yam harvests. Water the yams at least once a week -- and check soil moisture between watering sessions.

Quiet, Sleek, and Surprisingly Premium for the Price
Color: White and Gold
I’ve gone through a lot of wireless mice over the years, but this one genuinely surprised me. The design looks much more premium in person — the black and gold finish gives it a sleek modern setup vibe without looking cheap or flashy. The mouse is super lightweight, smooth, and almost silent when clicking, which honestly makes a bigger difference than I expected. Great for late-night work, studying, or coffee shop use without annoying everyone around you. Setup took seconds — plugged in the nano receiver and it worked instantly with my laptop. No lag, no connection issues, and the tracking has been very responsive on different surfaces. Battery life has also been solid so far. For the price, this feels like one of those underrated tech finds that ends up becoming part of your everyday setup. Clean aesthetic, quiet performance, portable, and reliable. Definitely exceeded expectations.

Nice, quiet and durable mouse
Color: Black and Gold
After trying several mice, I purchased one of these. It is small and very quiet. Since I spend many hours a day at a computer that can be rough on mice. I have since purchased more of these. It will take the average user quite a while to wear one out. And they are inexpensive.

Easy setup, beautiful red!
Color: Red, Color: Red
I needed a mouse for an assignment when I asked my son for his. I loved it so much that I needed to buy myself one. I bought the red to match my computer (and to know that the navy blue is my son's) and it's a very sleek, not tooo vibrant color. It does come with both an USB & USBC controller (see pictures) and mine connected FAST to my computer. It does NOT come with a battery (most mice won't) so please grab a DOUBLE AA battery before it comes in so you will be ready. I have no issues with the mouse and loved the price point on this one. It's light weight and easy to setup. Then again it was a plug in/play setup, so if you're not tech savvy, you won't have issues with this one. Just choose a color and get it!

Cut the Cord and Never Looked Back!
Color: Grey
I'd been using a wired mouse forever and kept telling myself the cord wasn't that annoying. Spoiler: it was. The moment I switched to the WisFox 2.4G Wireless Mouse, I realized what I'd been putting up with all along — and there's no going back now. Setup was dead simple. Plug the little USB receiver into the laptop, and it just works. No drivers to hunt down, no pairing headaches, no nonsense. The 2.4G connection is solid and responsive — I haven't noticed any lag or signal dropout, even when the receiver is tucked into a port on the back of the laptop. The cursor tracks smoothly across my desk surface without any skipping or stuttering. The ergonomic shape is a genuine plus. It fits naturally in the hand during long sessions and doesn't leave my wrist feeling fatigued the way some flatter mice do. The buttons have a satisfying, tactile click without being loud enough to bother anyone nearby. My one gripe — and it's pretty minor — is that it runs on batteries, which means you'll eventually need to swap them out. It's not a dealbreaker by any stretch, and the battery life has been reasonable so far, but if you're used to a wired mouse that just runs forever, it's a small adjustment to keep a spare AA or two around. Pros: Instant plug-and-play setup with the USB receiver Reliable, lag-free 2.4G connection Comfortable ergonomic shape for extended use Great freedom of movement without cord clutter Cons: Runs on batteries — plan to keep a spare on hand If you're still tethered to a wired mouse and on the fence about making the jump, this is a solid, no-fuss way to do it. Hope this helps!
