Anthurium 'Queen of Hearts'

Anthurium 'Queen of Hearts' grows dark velvet leaves with red, bronze or chocolate-toned new growth. Fresh leaves deepen into richer green as they mature.

Leaves emerge from a compact central crown on upright petioles. The plant stays fairly compact while producing larger leaves as it matures.

What Anthurium 'Queen of Hearts' looks like

  • Leaves: Broad, heart-shaped leaves with a velvety surface.
  • New growth: Fresh leaves open in red, bronze or chocolate tones.
  • Mature colour: Older leaves deepen into darker green.
  • Growth habit: Compact crown with upright petioles.
  • Mature growth: Larger leaves can develop over time when roots and growing conditions are steady.

Anthurium 'Queen of Hearts' care indoors

  • Light: Bright filtered light is best, especially while new leaves are still soft.
  • Watering: Let the upper part of the substrate dry slightly before watering again, then drain the pot well.
  • Substrate: A loose Anthurium mix with bark, coco chips, pumice or perlite keeps moisture and air around the roots.
  • Temperature: Keep it warm, ideally around 18–28 °C. Warm conditions help new leaves open properly.
  • Humidity: Slightly higher humidity helps new leaves unfold evenly. Gentle airflow helps keep the growing area from staying too damp.
  • Feeding: Use a diluted complete fertiliser while the plant is actively growing.
  • Repotting: Repot when the roots fill the pot or the mix starts losing structure.

Problems to watch for

  • Yellowing lower leaves: Often starts with wet, compacted or cold roots.
  • Brown edges: Check watering gaps, dry air and fertiliser strength.
  • Distorted new leaves: Look closely for thrips or mites on soft new growth.
  • Soft crown or stem base: Check the roots and move the plant into a fresher, airier mix if needed.
  • Marked red new leaves: Fresh leaves are tender and can mark from rubbing, rough handling or strong sun.

Flowers, safety and name

Older plants may produce typical Anthurium flowers: a spadix surrounded by a spathe. Indoors, the dark velvet leaves are what you notice first.

Keep Anthurium 'Queen of Hearts' away from pets and children that may nibble or ingest plant material. Like other Anthuriums, it contains calcium oxalate crystals that can irritate the mouth, throat, skin and eyes.

Anthurium 'Queen of Hearts' belongs to cultivated dark velvet Anthurium lines. The genus name Anthurium comes from Greek words meaning “flower” and “tail”, referring to the spadix. The name 'Queen of Hearts' fits the heart-shaped leaves and warm red new growth.

Great interactive ball !!
Color: Red
I have an 11 month old golden doodle and she loves this ball! It keeps her attention for a good amount of time I have been using it for times where i absolutely need her to be occupied and so far so good! I was worried she would chew it up but that hadn’t been an issue it seems to be very durable! And so for I have charged it up one time and she has had a few plays with it i should probably go ahead and charge it but lasted good amount! Def would recommend also loovveee that it doesn’t play music constantly ! One main things i was looking for have a few moving ones that are so fern loud I rather her not be occupied 🤣
