Reviews :

"Tigerlily, Natalie Merchant's first solo record, does sound different than 10,000 Maniacs. Instead of relying strictly on jangly folk-rock, Merchant continues opening her music up as she did on Our Time in Eden, her last album with the Maniacs. From the understated groove of "Carnival" to the rolling "San Andreas Fault," the added emphasis on rhythmic texture works, creating an intimate but not exclusive atmosphere that holds throughout the record, even when her occasionally sophomoric, sentimental poetry threatens to sink the album in the weight of its own preciousness (as in "River," her tribute to the late actor River Phoenix)." AllMusic Review by Stephen Thomas Erlewine

Ultra Analog™ : The GAIN 2 Ultra Analog™ Series stems from the use of the Gain 2 system, mastered at half speed from the original master tapes where possible, capturing and uncovering as before undiscovered sonic information.

Half-speed mastering. In half-speed mastering, the whole process is slowed down to half of the original speed. A typical 33 1/3 rpm record is cut at 16 2/3 rpm. The source material is also slowed down (reducing the pitch in the process) meaning the final record will still sound normal when played back. Slowing the whole process down allows more time, which means the end result sounds better and is more efficient — allowing engineering to minimize the effects of inherent limitations within the vinyl format. The result is a more accurate and more open high-frequency response in the half speed vinyl when compared with a normal speed recording.

Precision at Its Finest for Espresso Enthusiasts
Color: Black, Color: Black
As a passionate home barista, I recently incorporated the WDT Espresso Distribution Tool into my espresso routine, and I am absolutely thrilled with the results. This tool is a game-changer, providing unparalleled precision in coffee distribution. Here's why it deserves a solid 5-star review: Pros: Seven Needle Design: The 0.35mm seven needles of the WDT tool are ingeniously crafted, ensuring uniform distribution of coffee grounds in the portafilter. This results in a more consistent and even extraction, elevating the quality of each shot. Eliminates Clumping: One of the standout features is its ability to eliminate clumping effectively. The fine needles effortlessly break up any clumps in the coffee grounds, guaranteeing a smooth and even bed for tamping. User-Friendly: The WDT tool is incredibly easy to use. The ergonomic design allows for a comfortable grip, and the needles move smoothly through the coffee grounds. It has become an essential part of my pre-brew routine, taking only seconds to create a uniform coffee bed. Sturdy Build: The build quality is top-notch. The stainless steel construction not only gives the tool a premium feel but also ensures durability. It's a tool that feels like it's built to last, making it a worthwhile investment for any espresso enthusiast. Enhanced Espresso Flavor: The consistent distribution achieved with the WDT tool translates to a more balanced and flavorful espresso. The precision it offers has noticeably improved the taste profile of my shots. Easy to Clean: Cleaning the WDT tool is a breeze. The design minimizes any grounds getting stuck, and a quick rinse under water is all it takes to keep it ready for the next use. In summary, the WDT Espresso Distribution Tool has exceeded my expectations in every aspect. Its thoughtful design, impeccable construction, and the positive impact on espresso quality make it a must-have for any serious home barista. If you're looking to take your espresso game to the next level, the WDT tool is an excellent investment that delivers consistent and exceptional results. A solid 5-star recommendation from a satisfied coffee enthusiast!

I didn’t realize how much I needed this tool until I bought it, and now I use it all the time. It’s the perfect companion to my espresso machine and really helps improve my espresso puck preparation. The quality is great, it’s easy to use, and it adds more capability and consistency to my home brewing setup. I would absolutely recommend this to anyone serious about improving their home espresso experience.

Sturdy tool for improving coffee distribution
Color: Black
For those who do not know what this tool does: The Weiss Distribution Technique (WDT) is a distribution method for espresso making, by which you use the tool to stir the coffee while it sits in the portafilter. You should use a portafilter funnel of the same size to avoid spilling grinds. The stirring action breaks up clumps and evens out the density of coffee within the puck. The result is reduced channeling and more even extractions. Who needs this tool: Those without a conical burr grinder, where the oil and variety of grind sizing may cause clumping, will benefit from this tool. Those with a decent conical burr grinder will find minimal benefit from this tool. I'm using a Breville Pro and do not see a huge improvement myself, for example. Quality: The build quality of this tool is excellent. You can add from one to seven needles, with many folks saying three is the sweet spot for best distribution. I've been using it for over a month and none of the needles have bent. The stand is solid aluminum and well-made, but it doubles as a protector of the needles. I just clean with a quick rinse and a wipe before returning it to its stand. Outcome: I did not realize most of the info above until after purchase. So my puck is solid, the pull is clean, and my coffee tastes great with a Breville Pro. However, this tool has a minimal amount to do with that. It is a worthwhile tool for those with a lower-end grinder, especially non-Burr grinders, and it is aesthetically-pleasing and well-made, which is why I rate it 5 stars overall. It also is of good value compared to more expensive variants.

Top quality tool that improves espresso extraction
Color: Gray
Fantastic and easy to use. Stand sits on top of espresso machine and the WDT tool is always ready, no unscrewing. Upgraded from a screw-shut version and couldn't be happier. Comes with extra needles which I hope to never need. Easy to recommend

Makes a difference but maybe only to caffeine addled coffee snobs
Color: Black
I won't say that everyone urgently needs one of these. This is helped me up my game. Perhaps not absolutely necessary, but it noticeably reduces canalization and improves extraction. And it appears to have improved not only my espresso, but my pour-overs and my Mokapot (especially the Mokapot!). It's a little fiddley to assemble - there's sets of springs and needles - but once you get it all locked down, its very tight. There's a set of spares - I can't imagine needing them. The tool kinda sits in the weighted base, but it appears to stay put in my cabinet.
