The Twisted Stem Ficus Lyrata, also known as the Twisted Stem Fiddle Leaf Fig, is a bold and beautiful indoor tree that brings instant height, structure, and greenery to your space. With its expertly trained spiral trunk and large, glossy, violin-shaped leaves, it’s both a statement and a staple. The Fiddle Leaf Fig has held its crown as the most popular houseplant in interior design for over a decade – and with good reason. Its sculptural form, rich green foliage, and dramatic silhouette make it a natural fit for almost any interior style, from pared-back minimalism to lush boho-inspired spaces.

Plant Size:
W27cm x H130cm (excluding decorative pot)

Perfect for hallways, living rooms, or anywhere you want a tall indoor plant with a small footprint.

Native Habitat and Growth Habit
Ficus lyrata is native to the lowland rainforests of West Africa, where it grows into a majestic tree under filtered light. As a houseplant, this twisted stem variety is trained to grow upward in a compact spiral, offering all the elegance of a fiddle leaf fig without taking up too much floor space. The twisting trunk adds visual interest, making it one of the most eye-catching tall houseplants available.

Ideal for Interior Styling
This twisted stem Ficus lyrata is a perfect plant for bright rooms with indirect sunlight. Use it to add drama to a corner, frame a doorway, or elevate your plant styling game with an indoor tree that doubles as living décor. It pairs beautifully with minimalist furniture, earthy ceramics, and natural materials. For best effect, place it in one of our handcrafted planters to show off its unique shape.

Care Tips for Twisted Stem Fiddle Leaf Fig
This Ficus lyrata prefers a bright spot with lots of indirect light. Let the top few inches of soil dry out between waterings and avoid overwatering, especially in winter. Keep the leaves dust-free by gently wiping them with a damp cloth – this helps with photosynthesis and keeps the plant looking its best.

For best results, feed once a month during the growing season with our Organic Tropical Plant Food – a gentle, vegan fertiliser made from seaweed, ideal for all tropical houseplants.

Yellowing leaves on older growth are normal – simply snip them off when they fade or leave them to fall naturally as the plant reabsorbs nutrients.

Why This Plant Stands Out
The twisted stem makes this fiddle leaf fig an elegant statement piece that’s easy to live with and dramatic to look at. If you’re searching for a tall houseplant for bright rooms, a decorative indoor tree, or a fiddle leaf fig with a twist, this plant ticks all the boxes. It’s a stylish, sculptural houseplant that looks just as good in a cosy home as it does in a contemporary apartment or creative workspace.

Fun Facts About Ficus Lyrata

  • The fiddle-leaf fig is one of the most popular houseplants in interior design thanks to its large, dramatic leaves.
  • Its botanical name comes from the Latin for ‘lyre-shaped’ – referring to the leaf shape.
  • With the right care, it can grow several feet tall indoors and become a true showstopper.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the twisted stem natural?
The twisted trunk is carefully trained by growers and will retain its spiral shape. It’s a living sculpture!

Can I place it in direct sun?
Bright, indirect light is best. Too much direct sun can scorch the leaves, while too little light may slow growth.

Is it pet-safe?
Like most ficus varieties, it is not considered pet-safe if ingested, so keep it out of reach of curious animals.

How often should I water it?
Water when the top 2–3 inches of soil are dry. It prefers slightly dry conditions over soggy roots.

An Inspiration
After watching a video by one of my favorite youtubers discussing comics and this book, I had to buy it. I have always loved Kate Kane since started Batwoman 52 about a year ago, and was very excited to purchase this graphic novel. My expectations were very high, yet this book still managed to exceed them! Williams and Rucka are both extremely talented gentlemen. As the introduction points out, they really do convince you that these characters are real. You almost can't believe Kate isn't an actual human being, and you can really imagine meeting her in real life. I also was very (if not more) impressed with the artwork. The compositions are simply stunning, and completely original. I absolutely love how the scenes with Kate as Batwoman are illustrated with lots of detail and fluidity. It really has an eery watercolor effect, with great linework and color. This completely contrasts the scenes where Kate is either out on the town or in her home. Much more graphic, but still delightful. The costumes in this series are also amazing. Both Kate and her foe have some stunning outfits, and are very unique. Since I had already read Batwoman 52, I knew how everything that was going to go down. A lot of this book was her origin and was very interesting. And although I already knew what was going to happen, it still managed to make me cry. Don't think it won't be exciting or interesting just because you already know her origin, Williams and Rucka really pull you in and keep it very exciting. Kate Kane is definitely my comic book hero, and is truly an inspiration. If you are just getting into Batwoman or comics, this is a great place to start. Of course you may be disappointed when no other series can compare! What a shame Batwoman 52 is about to come to an end, this really is as good as it gets people, and I am very sad to see such a creative and talented team leave, but I do understand completely. I highly recommend this book to Kate Kane, DC and comic book fans everywhere! Enjoy!

Renews faith in comics
Decided to dive into the DC Comics New 52 and in preparation for Batwoman #1, I decided to pick up this book as a recommendation to getting the full story on this relatively new character to the DC world. This comic renewed my faith in comic books as both great stories and great pieces of art! Greg Rucka crafts a great story here but the artist JH Williams III presents it to you. You get to know this character here in more ways than just a quick reference. Batwoman is given the desire to serve her fellow man as her motivation. She is given the demographic of a Jewish lesbian soldier with a solid family background which is something we don't see much in our universe of white dominated or scarred superheroes. Sure she lost her mother and twin sister as at a young age, but she isn't damaged here. She rises above and serves only to be disappointed by trust issues in her life. But Rucka and Williams make her a bold woman who just keeps going like a shark, surviving because its her instinct and not her desire to escape something. This is the 21st Century woman superhero. Panels of note for me were: 1) how they presented the apartment Batwoman's alter ego lived in, 2) a beautiful full page spread showing the fight on the plane between Batwoman and Alice, 3) a transition panel where Batwoman and Alice are shown on the phone to each other, 4) a touching series where Batwoman as a child and her twin sister realize they are moving because of military orders and their life will change and they swear to always be there for each other. If you want to take a chance on the DC Comics reboot, take a chance on Batwoman #1 and get this one to bring you up to speed, you won't be sorry. A great twist for any new reader wanting to test the graphic novel/comic book scene.

Beautiful Art, Compelling Story
The birth of Kate Kane as Batwoman is one of my favorite graphic novels in my collection. I already owned the digital edition on my iPad, but the art by J.H. Williams was just too amazing not to see in print. This artist knows how to draw beautifully artistic pages; right down to the panels themselves. I also love the style shift from nighttime Batwoman to daytime Kate Kane. The story is really great, especially the ending of Elegy! I also really loved the back stories that follow, showing the history of Kate Kane and how she became the Batwoman. Its also good to know that the New 52 timeline in DC didn't delete all this continuity. Batwoman isn't another Batman flunkie. She's a strong woman and an amazing character that Greg Rucka and J.H. Williams really bring to life in this book.

Better Than Batman!
This is by far one of the best Batman titles that doesn't include Batman as the title character. I'm not much of a reader of Batman, but I have been very interested in Batwoman since I read the 52 series back in 2006. The story line itself is much better then when 52 presented her for the first time. I really like how Rucka focused more on her homosexuality and making her an identical twin too (since I'm a twin myself). However, what blew me away the most was the artwork. Williams really focuses on covering the entire page with art and color; giving you the full comic book art experience. I have seen and very much liked his work in Promethea and think this is just as good. Batwoman is now my second favorite super heroine after Wonder Woman of course.
