Sansevieria kirkii ‘Silver Blue’ is a stunning and highly sought-after succulent prized for its broad, elegant leaves and distinctive icy-blue sheen. Native to East Africa and a member of the Asparagaceae family, this cultivar stands out for its uniquely coloured, architectural foliage that looks almost metallic in the right light.

The leaves are thick, leathery, and sword-shaped, arranged in an open, gently arching rosette. Their surface is a striking silver-blue to powdery teal, often with fine, darker reticulated patterns that add depth and texture. Leaf margins may show subtle reddish-brown or bronze tones, especially under strong light, adding a refined, natural accent.

Graceful, sculptural, and slow-growing, Sansevieria kirkii ‘Silver Blue’ brings a modern, minimalist aesthetic to any space. Its cool-toned colouring and clean lines make it one of the most visually sophisticated Sansevieria cultivars available — perfect for collectors and interior stylists alike.

Sansevieria kirkii ‘Silver Blue’ – Care Guide

Light

Thrives in bright, indirect light where its silver-blue colour is most pronounced. Tolerates some direct morning or late-afternoon sun. Can adapt to medium or even lower light levels, though growth will slow and colouring may deepen into greener tones.

Watering

Extremely drought-tolerant. Allow the soil to dry out completely between waterings. Water sparingly in winter — often every 3–5 weeks depending on your environment. Overwatering is the most common issue.

Temperature and Humidity

  • Temperature: Prefers 18–30 °C. Can tolerate heat well but dislikes temperatures below 10–12 °C.

  • Humidity: Performs well in low to average household humidity. No special humidity required.

Soil and Potting

Use a gritty, well-draining cactus or succulent mix. A blend of coarse sand, pumice, perlite, and fast-draining compost is ideal. Repot only when rootbound — typically every 2–3 years — as Sansevierias grow well when snug.

Feeding

Feed every 6–8 weeks during the growing season with a diluted succulent fertiliser. Avoid feeding in winter.

Pruning and Maintenance

Minimal pruning needed. Remove old or damaged leaves at the base. Wipe foliage occasionally to remove dust and enhance its silvery sheen.

Growth and Maturity

A slow-growing species that typically reaches 40–70 cm in height. Older plants produce pups that gradually form a striking clump of silver-blue rosettes.

Common Issues

  • Soft leaves: Overwatering or poor drainage.

  • Leaf curl: Underwatering or very low humidity (usually cosmetic).

  • Pale colour: Low light.

  • Pests: Rare, but mealybugs or scale can appear in dry indoor conditions.

Background and Benefits

Sansevieria kirkii ‘Silver Blue’ has gained a cult following for its refined colour palette and sculptural beauty. Its cool, metallic tones pair beautifully with modern interiors, minimalistic décor, and natural stone or concrete textures.

Highly resilient, low maintenance, and tolerant of neglect, it’s one of the best statement succulents for both collectors and beginners.

Its clean form and colour also make it an excellent contrast plant — pairing beautifully with deep-green foliage, black-leaved species, or warm-toned decor.

Classy look, but finish issue
This walnut wrist rest looks great on the desk—simple, solid, and much nicer than foam or gel options. It has a clean, polished style that pairs well with a keyboard, and the non-slip base keeps it from sliding around. I wasn’t sure how I would like it compared to the soft cushy pad I used before, but it’s actually been pretty comfortable. The firmness gives steady support, and I haven’t found it too uncomfortable even after longer typing sessions. The one drawback is a spot where the finish has worn or dissolved. It wasn’t there when I first got it, so I suspect the coating isn’t as durable as I’d hoped. It doesn’t affect how it feels in use, but it does stand out on an otherwise sharp-looking piece. Overall, it’s a nice upgrade if you want a wooden wrist rest, just be aware the finish might not stay flawless over time.

Classy, Comfortable, and Built to Last!
I’ve never tried a wooden wrist rest before, but after going through a few padded ones (even some expensive name-brand versions) that eventually peeled or fell apart, I figured this was worth a shot. And I’m so glad I did! This walnut wrist rest is smooth, beautifully made, and looks amazing on my desk. I have a whitewashed office setup, but this piece looks so good that I half-joked about wanting to change my desk to match it! It adds a very clean, grown-up aesthetic to the space. One thing I really appreciated is that it comes in several sizes to suit different setups. I ordered the largest available, and while it’s just a couple inches shy of covering the full length of my keyboard, it still works perfectly. It has non-slip grips on the bottom that keep it in place, and even though it’s made of solid wood, it’s surprisingly comfortable and ergonomic to type with. It’s also super low-maintenance—just wipe it clean with a damp cloth. For the $26–$29 price range, I think it’s a fantastic value and honestly better than some of the big-name options I’ve tried. This is a quality piece I expect to hold up for a long time, and I’m really happy with it!!

Check the height of your keyboard before ordering
This is a beautifully made, elegant looking wrist rest. The finish is satin perfectly smooth to the touch. As keyboards vary in height, be sure to measure he height of the front edge of yours before ordering—I didn’t (which is entirely my fault) and found that this wrist rest is just a wee bit too tall, which positioned my wrists a tad higher than I’m used to. Another factor you may want to consider are the ergonomics of solid wood versus other materials and your personal preferences (e.g., I tend to prefer cloth covered gel, because he cloth keeps my wrists from sticking and the gel is cushioning). My closing thought: this wrist rest is that it is by far the best looking of any wrist rest I’ve ever seen. Great Tray For Storing My Everyday Carries
Size: 8.5" x 5.8" x 1.9", Color: Black
My everyday carry items (wallet, keys, etc.), used to just get thrown around wherever when I'd get home, but this little tray makes a great, defined, space for me to keep those things when I don't need them on me. The soft lining reduces the obnoxious sound of throwing keys on a hard surface, and of course keeps me from scratching up a surface. The build feels quality and I haven't seen any damage to it yet. Also the all black version with gold buckle looks quite good and adds a subtle touch of luxury. Absolute recommend for the price.
