The Mangave ‘Purple Passion’ is a bold and eye-catching succulent hybrid celebrated for its richly saturated purple foliage and elegant rosette form. ‘Purple Passion’ lives up to its name with deep burgundy to violet leaves, each adorned with subtle spotting that becomes more pronounced in full sun. It's a stunning addition to modern desert-style gardens or as a sculptural focal point in containers.

This Purple Passion Mangave hybrid was bred in the United States.

The plant forms a low-growing but wide rosette of slightly arching leaves, typically grows up to 18 inches tall and up to 24 inches wide at maturity.

Each leaf has a smooth surface with flexible margins, faint speckling, and soft spines along the edges.

The foliage deepens to rich purples and plums when exposed to sunlight, while shadier conditions bring out more greenish undertones.

This combination of color and form makes ‘Purple Passion’ one of the most ornamental and vivid Mangave cultivars available.

Like other Mangaves, ‘Purple Passion’ is monocarpic, meaning it flowers once before dying. However, the flowering process takes several years and is often delayed due to the plant’s slow-maturing nature. It will produce a tall bloom stalk, sometimes 4 feet or more, with clusters of tubular flowers that may attract hummingbirds and other pollinators. Thankfully, it also forms offsets or "pups" at the base, allowing you to propagate the plant and enjoy its beauty for years to come.

When it comes to care, Mangave ‘Purple Passion’ thrives in full sun to part shade, with more intense coloration developing under bright light. It prefers well-drained succulent  soil. Water deeply but allow the soil to dry completely between waterings, especially during cooler months when growth slows.

Indoorsmaintain temperatures between 60–85°F and provide bright light near a south- or west-facing window.

Outdoors, it is suitable for USDA Zones 9–11, and in colder climates, it should be overwintered indoors or protected from frost.

A balanced liquid fertilizer diluted to half strength can be applied once a month during the growing season (spring through summer) for optimal health.

One of the most unique aspects of ‘Purple Passion’ is its dynamic leaf color, which reacts vividly to light exposure and stress, becoming more purple as it adjusts to drought or full sun. The plant also boasts a faster growth rate than most traditional agaves, making it more rewarding for gardeners looking for quicker results in pots or landscape designs. Its soft spines and flexible leaves also make it more approachable than its spikier agave relatives.

Final Thoughts

Overall, the Mangave ‘Purple Passion’ offers an ideal blend of drama, color, and low-maintenance care, making it a valuable addition to any succulent enthusiast’s collection. Its deeply pigmented foliage, symmetry, and adaptability to containers or hot, dry landscapes make it a standout specimen in water-wise gardening. With proper care, this hybrid provides season-long interest, structure, and a splash of unexpected color.

not bad
Format: Kindle
I loved the plot of this book. The characters just didn’t have a lot of depth. The connections and “love” just weren’t communicated very well in the writing. The author didn’t write the sweet psycho trope very well at all either. Lachlan was just a mess of a character.

A Beta Worth Rooting For
Format: Kindle
In Spare, Violet Fox flips the omegaverse on its head, giving us a Beta heroine determined to make her mark. Joining the Beta Trials to support her sick father, she's thrown into a pack that doesn't want her, especially the possessive Alphas. But here's the twist: their sweet Omega turns out to be her scent match. Cue the angst, forbidden tension, and a slow-burn romance that will make your heart ache in the best way. Violet Fox delivers an emotional, refreshing take on the genre, proving Betas aren't "spares." They're stars.

Beta, Alpha, Omega oh my!
Format: Kindle
Omegas are precious and given to Alphas & their packs... but the Betas want in too. To this end, the Beta government is rolling out its trial of assigning a Beta to each Alpha-Omega pack. But forcing a Beta into a pack where they are not wanted will not end well... Of course, no one expected the Omega to fall for the assigned Beta. Great read and cliffhanger

A familiar story, just with…..less.
Format: Kindle
So, as other reviewers make clear, this is very similar to Pack Darling and The Beta. It’s much closer aligned with The Beta, in plot and maybe more like Pack Darling with characters. That being said, I don’t hate this…..but it wasn’t great either. It’s both books mentioned but just….less. Less angst, less emotion, less feeling. The plot feels very half fleshed out, and the “bad guy” feels underwhelming. I didn’t really feel any real emotions from and of the male leads, except maybe Oliver. The others fell sorta flat for me. And Mika makes herself out to be this big bad ass straight outta training and then we never see it from here again with the one fitting room incident as the exception. SPOILER: The whole, “Oh, I’m actually probably an Omega, but I don’t wanna be but I do actually wanna be but no one can ever know my secret that I do nothing to hide “ thing fell so flat. She never commutes to believing she was secretly an omega, but also mentions her “secret” a lot. It just felt so manufactured. I’m intrigued enough to read part 2 and see how the author closes everything out, but this is not one I’ll recommend or ever come back to.

Good start to a series
Format: Kindle
I delayed reading the series for reasons I don’t remember. But my TBR list is huge so I thought I’d take a shot of this and I was pleasantly surprised. I didn’t think the blurb about it was anything special. But it was a very good book. It took some interesting twists and turns. I am so glad the second book is already out. Because I would not have waited patiently. Very slow burn but good storyline. 🔥🔥/5
