Plant Bio

Pachira aquatica

Native to areas of Central and South America, this tropical tree sports beautiful hand-shaped foliage and an easy-growing nature. It’s more tolerant to overwatering than many common houseplants. This makes it an excellent choice for plant parents who tend to overwater. In its native habitat it can reach more than 50 feet tall but stays much smaller indoors.

It’s become associated with good fortune due to a legend about a farmer who found some seeds, planted them, and made a business of selling the trees. Thus, the tree brought him good fortune.

Additionally, exposure to the sap of this plant may cause discomfort to individuals with a sensitivity to it upon contact. I was using the lotion version of this for about a year, then went to the balm for more hydration. However, it seems to be breaking me out. I think because it's spring, im not needing as much occlusion as i did during winter. I'm gonna go back to the lotion formula, then pick this up again next winter. It is a little hard to spread, but I spray the avene mineral water on, let it dry slightly, and press the balm into my skin when its still wet. That helps thin the balm just enough to rub in. Otherwise, it can actually feel kind of rough!

Another excellent product from this brand. I have type 1 rosacea on my cheeks, even when I avoid triggers (like red wine, warm weather, etc.), and very sensitive skin overall. I've been using the cicalfate serum from this brand for the sensitivity, but it didn't help the redness. After two weeks of using this twice daily, I noticed a significant difference. After a month, I had no redness unless I encountered a trigger. Even then, the intensity of the redness seemed less. I tried going without this product for a month when the first bottle ran out, and sadly, the redness started coming back within a cycle of weeks. I've got this on auto-delivery now, along with the cicalfate serum. I never want to be without it!
