Syngonium podophyllum 'Neon'

Syngonium podophyllum 'Neon' has pink juvenile arrowhead leaves that can range from soft blush tones to brighter pink as new foliage matures. The colour covers the leaf surface, while the stems and node tissue can stay greener.

The plant starts as a leafy, compact Syngonium and later develops longer stems from visible nodes. Pruning keeps the plant short and full, while a pole or trellis lets the stems climb and show the natural growth habit of Syngonium podophyllum.

Syngonium podophyllum 'Neon' profile

  • Plant type: Pink-leaved Syngonium podophyllum with juvenile arrowhead foliage.
  • Family: Araceae.
  • Leaf colour: Soft to bright pink juvenile foliage, often with greener stem and node tissue.
  • Growth habit: Bushy when young, later trailing or climbing from node-bearing stems.
  • Leaf form: Simple arrowhead juvenile leaves; mature supported growth can become larger and more divided.
  • Best light: Bright filtered light, away from direct sun.
  • Safety: Contains irritating calcium oxalate crystals.

Pink foliage on Syngonium podophyllum 'Neon'

Syngonium podophyllum 'Neon' develops pink leaves across a simple juvenile arrowhead shape. New foliage can open brighter before settling, while older leaves may soften in tone as the plant continues to produce new growth from the stem tips.

Visible nodes along the stems allow the plant to branch after pruning or attach gradually to a support. In a pot, regular trimming keeps the foliage closer together and reduces long gaps between leaves.

Care for Syngonium podophyllum 'Neon'

  • Light: Keep in bright filtered light. Direct sun can bleach or scorch pink leaves, while dim light can stretch the stems.
  • Water: Water when the upper part of the mix begins to dry, then allow the pot to drain completely.
  • Humidity: Moderate to higher humidity keeps new leaves from drying at the edges during unfurling.
  • Temperature: Grow warm, ideally above 18°C, and avoid cold draughts or sudden temperature drops.
  • Substrate: Use a loose, well-aerated aroid mix that does not compact around the roots.
  • Repotting: Repot when roots are dense in the pot, choosing a container only slightly larger than the current one.
  • Fertilising: Feed lightly during active growth; pause or reduce feeding when the plant stops making new leaves.
  • Pruning: Cut back long stems above a node to encourage a fuller plant.
  • Support: Use a support once stems extend and you want upright growth.
  • Semi-hydro: Mineral substrate culture is possible after careful root cleaning and stable water management.

Pink-leaf problems on Syngonium podophyllum 'Neon'

  • Pale or scorched leaves: Check for direct sun or hot glass exposure, especially on bright days.
  • Long gaps between leaves: Increase filtered light and prune stretched stems to restore a denser shape.
  • Yellow older leaves: Check whether the plant is staying wet, drying too far or lacking nutrients during active growth.
  • Water-soaked marks: Cold wet roots or chilled foliage can damage tender Syngonium tissue.
  • Pests: Inspect new growth and leaf undersides for aphids, spider mites and mealybugs.
  • Bacterial spots: Remove affected leaves and avoid conditions where foliage stays wet and cool.

Safety for Syngonium podophyllum 'Neon'

Syngonium podophyllum 'Neon' can irritate the mouth, lips and throat if chewed. Keep it away from pets and children because the leaves and stems contain calcium oxalate crystals.

Botanical background for Syngonium podophyllum 'Neon'

Makes moving your umbrella around a breeze.
Size: 100LBS
This is best idea in umbrella stands. Decent price. I love that the water intake/release is on the side. Many are on top of the stand. Doesn't leak. Easy to move around and easy to put together with the included tools. I have 2. One for a very heavy 10 x 6' umbrella, and the other for a very light 1/2 round umbrella. Works equally well for both. One tricky part the instructions don't include is that is parts F and J are 'in place' in the base and you need to remove them to re attach them to the cylinder, or what they refer to as the "stand pole". So, if you are looking for parts (and I did this twice), just remember you will find them on the underside of large plastic umbrella base. Both are black, and so not immediately apparent. Love that there are two locking wheels and they include an extra screw. IKEA could learn a few things here.

Hold my umbrella & watch this!
Size: 100LBS, Size: 100LBS
This product does a fantastic job of keeping our umbrella perfectly vertical. We previously had an all metal one which cost over $100 and fell over all of the time. I love the fact that it can be filled with sand and water to ensure it does flip over! We opted to just use water and it is performing flawlessly! The wheels make it easy to move or they can be locked in place. The assembly was very straightforward and took about 20 minutes. I would buy another one if we need it for our second umbrella.

Great stand for portability, concerns about durability
Size: 155LBS
This is great and lightweight for easy maneuverability when not filled. It is extremely sturdy when filled and the locks on the wheels keep it in place. I use this with a Purple umbrella and it's great. My one complaint is that the umbrella has developed a bit of a lean after several months of use so I don't think this will hold up in the long run.
