Withania somnifera Build your medicinal herb garden with this traditional Ayurvedic plant, native to Rajasthan and northern India. A member of the nightshade family and closely related to ground cherry, Ashwagandha grows easily in the Pacific Northwest as an annual crop. Also known as winter cherry or Indian ginseng, this fast-growing plant can reach up to three feet tall. It features dense, velvety leaves that emit a fragrance reminiscent of peanut butter. Cream-colored flowers grow in clusters and ripen into bright orange berries enclosed in papery husks—similar to tomatillos. These husks dry when the roots are ready for harvest.

Ashwagandha is an adaptogen, a tonic herb that helps the body adjust to stress and environmental changes. Traditionally, the mild, sweet-tasting roots are dried and powdered, then mixed with milk for a cooling, health-supportive drink. They also pair well in decoctions with rose, honey, and cardamom. Harvest whole roots for drying or grind into powder for capsules or beverages.

In our Willamette Valley spring trials, Ashwagandha performed well, producing elongated roots and viable seeds for saving. It’s a low-maintenance, drought-tolerant crop that prefers slightly alkaline soil and little to no fertilizer. Roots grow quickly and can be harvested selectively. It can be grown in a half wine barrel, and you can either harvest a few roots while leaving the plant in the soil to encourage continued growth or harvest the entire plant annually. Hardy in USDA zones 7 and warmer.

So simple to use, I'm amazed
Color: Black
Wonderfully helpful. Description is accurate, shipping was quick. I saw a few poor comments, but I have none so far! The can opener has opened cans of several sizes, from tomato paste to large cans of tomatoes; soup cans to strangely shaped. It's opened 30 or so already without loss of power. It's a little noisy, but about equal to that of a stand up opener. It fits in my drawer, which is less deep than most kitchen drawers. Most of all, it's beyond easy to use for arthritic hands. The ONLY CHALLENGE I have is that it sometimes fails to stop when it should. MANUFACTURER: if you read this and have advice, please share. At this point, I'd say this is a great value for the money.

Color: Black
Please be very careful when using this. After using it 2 times it opened cans just fine. Then it stop opening cans and will make hair like strains of metals and one would think its hair and pull on it thus Cutting your fingers open. That’s what happened to me. Please be careful.

Quit working after 30 days
Color: Black
This can opener worked fine for the first couple of weeks. It stopped working several days ago and even though I had recharged it, it would not turn on. I thought I would give it another try before I threw it away since I was past the refund period so I could not return it. I made 100% sure that it was plugged in securely and it did charge and worked today. Make sure that it is plugged in securely when charging. Hopefully it will continue to work and if not I will update my review.
