Alocasia 'Polly' Albo/ Pink Variegata

Alocasia 'Polly' Albo / Pink Variegata is a variegated Alocasia 'Polly' with dark angular leaves marked in white, cream and sometimes blush-pink tissue. Each new leaf can develop a different pattern, from fine marbling to larger pale sectors across the blade.

The plant keeps the compact habit, scalloped margins and upright petioles associated with Alocasia 'Polly'. The pale tissue makes growth slower and more variable, so warmth, root health and careful watering matter from the first leaves.

Variegated Polly foliage

  • Leaves: Dark blades with pale veins, scalloped edges and irregular white, cream or pink-toned sectors.
  • Growth habit: Compact rhizomatous base that produces each patterned leaf from the centre.
  • Pattern: Pattern size and colour balance vary leaf by leaf, especially on young growth.
  • Background: Variegated form in the Polly/Poly cultivation group, connected with the Amazonica line.

Albo and pink pattern changes

This variegated Alocasia 'Polly' comes from the same Amazonica-line background as the standard green form, with Alocasia sanderiana × Alocasia longiloba 'Watsoniana' behind the cultivated group. White, mottled, ghosted and pink-toned Polly selections are known in cultivation, and each plant expresses its pattern individually.

Leaves with mixed green and pale tissue usually last better than almost fully pale leaves. Keep partially green leaves in place while they remain firm, because they help maintain the rhizome as new patterned growth develops.

Managing pale Polly tissue

  • Light: Give bright, softened light and good day length. Strong indirect light keeps green tissue active, while intense sun can scorch pale sectors quickly.
  • Watering: Check the top 2–3 cm of substrate before watering. Let the rhizome stay lightly moist in active growth, with clear drying between thorough waterings.
  • Substrate: Blend bark, coco fibre, pumice or perlite with a small moisture-retentive organic fraction so the roots hold moisture and air at the same time.
  • Pot size: Match the pot closely to the root mass so the slower variegated plant can dry evenly after watering.
  • Temperature: Keep the root system around 20–28 °C. Warm conditions help new leaves and corms develop.
  • Humidity: Aim for 60–75% humidity to help new leaves unfurl cleanly and reduce crisping on pale tissue.
  • Feeding: Use reduced-strength balanced fertiliser in the active season.
  • Leaf management: Keep partially green leaves as long as they are firm; remove fully collapsed or heavily browned leaves close to the base with clean tools.
  • Repotting: Move to a slightly larger pot once roots fill the pot or the substrate breaks down.
  • Propagation: Corms can produce variable patterning. Grow young plants warm and humid until they form stable roots.
  • Mineral growing: Established plants can transition to mineral substrates with careful root cleaning, warm conditions and gentle nutrient strength.

Pale sectors and root condition

  • Brown edges on pale areas: Check humidity, watering intervals, fertiliser concentration and direct sun through glass.
  • Very slow growth: Review light level, root temperature and the amount of green tissue on the plant.
  • Soft yellowing leaves: Check root health and substrate drying speed.
  • Pattern shifts: Observe several leaves before pruning, as variegation naturally varies between growth cycles.
  • Scarred new leaves: Inspect emerging growth for thrips while the tissue is still folded.
  • Fine webbing: Check leaf undersides and petioles for spider mites during warm indoor periods.

Keeping variegated leaves protected

Alocasia 'Polly' Albo/ Pink Variegata contains oxalate-bearing tissue that can irritate the mouth, tongue and throat if chewed. Keep the plant away from pets and children, and wash your hands after cutting damaged leaves or handling divisions.

Variegated Polly background

Alocasia is part of Araceae. In the plant name, Albo signals white variegation, while Pink Variegata refers to blush-toned pale tissue on some leaves.

Best Toy Ever! 🐾
Color: GREEN, Size: 14 inch (Pack of 1), Style: FROG
Hey, it’s me, your dog! 🐶 This Frog toy is AMAZING! No stuffing to pull out (finally), so I can chew and squeak it all I want without making a mess. The squeaker is SO satisfying, I carry it everywhere. It’s the perfect size for playing tug-of-war and fetch with my human. I’ve had it for a while now, and it’s still holding up strong—no rips or tears yet! If you love squeaky toys and want something that lasts, this frog is paws-itively the best! 🐸

My dogs have destroyed this toy. Squeaker gone in a day and is ripped open. It was a great little toy just not for use with heavy chewers

Easy to insert bottles into and easy to toss. My dog loves that it both squeaks and crunches. One of his new favorite toys.

Not durable for a large breed

I received this toy about 2hrs ago. My dog tore a hole in it already. Not made for Rottweiler/American Bulldog breed, apparently. 🙂 Love that there isn't stuffing though, at least she's not making a mess, lol!

My dog loves it.
Color: GREEN, Size: 14 inch (Pack of 1), Style: FROG
I thought I was going to have to return this dog toy because my dog was afraid of the toy, especially the squeaker. But after a while, he finally did start playing with it and now he won’t let the other dogs touch his frog. It’s so bad that if they do touch it, he rips it out or their mouth, jumps up into a chair, and lays on top of it so they can’t get it. He still doesn’t like the squeaker if it’s down in front of him, but if I’m in another room, the squeaker makes him come running. He loves the squirrel I got him too. But the material of the frog seems really durable. The part I like the most of that it’s like a puppet and you can stick your hand in it or an empty bottle of water and then Velcro it shut. If your dog doesn’t like the squeaker, there is a pouch in the mouth of the frog that you can access through this velcroed area and cut it out. Definitely a must have if you have a tough chewer.
