Puerto Rican black beans are part of the cowpea family. Vines are extremely vigorous, often reaching over 20FT in one growing season. Plus, it has a very high disease and pest resistance. After two years of growing this black bean, I have had no issues with pests or disease. In fact, the second year crop reseeded on its own. I did not water them or anything and it still produced loads of very long cowpea style pods that have numerous black beans inside. I just love it when edible things reseed in my garden and require zero effort! Puerto Rican black beans is a perennial plant in areas that barely get any cold. Otherwise, treat it as a long lived annual crop that will die once the cold arrives, but not before providing several flushes of harvestable beans. This vegetable is really meant to be grown as a drying or shelling bean. This is by far the best shelling for the purpose of drying black bean cultivar I have ever grown. It is a must for those looking to add edible plants to their permaculture or food forest type setups. It is important to note that Puerto Rican black beans are day light sensitive, meaning they are triggered to start flowering and producing beans once the day light hours start to shorten in fall. So it it best to direct sow seeds in early summer so they are nice big plants by fall time. Also, I cannot stress how big these vines get. The last picture shows how the vines climbed up one of my orange trees and totally took over. Give it a nice large trellis and it will reward you with a ton of black beans.

PLANTING

Great value and great biodegradable plates for snacks or lods
Size: 6", Size: 6"
These plates were exactly what I was looking for! These 6" plates are smaller ones, so if you need larger ones, then get the 8" ones:)

Great value for very sturdy, leak free plates
Size: 6"
Really like these plates! They had the best price per plate & come in a large quantity which is a huge plus for me. We use them to feed our cats wet food & sometimes water & the liquids have never leaked through the plates They are the perfect size for feeding, 1 plate will easily hold a can of cat food. They are very sturdy & don't slide across the floor while the cats are eating off them.

Love these!
Size: 9"
We use these quite often. I try to reduce our carbon footprint as much as possible and not only are these the best value we have found for compostable plates, they are also more sturdy than traditional paper plates. I don't think I will ever go back to non compostable plates.
