The Opuntia Macrocentra "Purple Prickly Pear Cactus" is a stunning looking cactus due to its varying colors. They can be a very deep purple or have multiple hue combinations such as green and purple, blue and purple, green and blue, etc. They have very few spikes on them but the ones they do have are longer than usual pear cacti.

Care Instructions:
Light Preference:  Enjoys indirect Sunlight.
Water Tolerance: Water once a week (preferably on schedule). Allow the soil to be dry between waterings.   Do not overwater as too much moisture will lead to root rot. 

Soil:  Enjoys gritty succulent potting soil. Feed during the growing season (winter to spring) by adding new soil. If you grow them in containers, repot them with fresh potting soil every 2 -3 years.

BLUF: I bought this for my office to display photos, awards, and such and I am very happy with the purchase. Background: I moved into a new house and needed to organize my office. I didn't want a big solid bookcase, but more of a display case to show them all off. I bought this and am very happy with the results. I would suggest it to anyone, however it is not perfect. PROS: Enough shelves with enough space to hold all of the small items that I had. It is solid if installed correctly. Additionally, it is smaller and fits flush against the wall, giving the room organization and improving it, while not overburdening it and making the room feel crowded. CONS: The main issue is that the single bar going up through all of the shelves makes it very flimsy if you don't secure it to the wall. YOU MUST SECURE IT TO THE WALL PROPERLY!!! I cannot express that more. Once you do, it becomes a solid piece, but it will not function properly if you do not secure it at all 4 attachment points. Overall: I would buy this again!
