The Monstera siltepecana variegated is a rare, variegated form of the vine native to Central America. This particular variety is notable for its elegant silver-green leaves with cream, yellow to white variegation, which sometimes runs subtly and sometimes prominently through the leaf surface. Over time, the plant evolves from a compact creeper to a climbing grower, with the veins and markings becoming more prominent.

Origin

The Monstera siltepecana grows naturally in the humid forests from Mexico to Panama. When young, it crawls along the forest floor, but once it finds something to climb up against, its growth habit changes. This variegated form is the result of a rare mutation and does not occur in the wild.

Characteristics

This plant is loved for its unique combination of leaf color, texture and growth form. The leaves are oblong to oval, with a silver-gray undertone and a net-like vein texture. Variegation varies by leaf and plant: some leaves are lightly speckled, others almost half white. As the plant ages and is given more room to climb, the leaves change shape and may eventually develop fenestrations (incisions).

Care

Light

Place the plant in a bright location, but avoid direct sunlight. The variegation makes the leaves more susceptible to burning, but too little light reduces the markings and vigor.

Temperature

A temperature between 18 and 28°C is ideal. Avoid cold drafts and sudden temperature changes.

Substrate

Use an airy, well-drained mixture based on bark, coconut chips and a little sphagnum moss. Avoid compact soil that stays wet for a long time.

Humidity

A humidity level of at least 60% is recommended. At lower values, leaf edges may dry out. Regular misting or using a humidifier helps.

Nutrition

Give a balanced, diluted houseplant food once a month during the growing season (spring and summer). In fall and winter, this may be reduced or omitted.

Watering

Allow the substrate to partially dry out between waterings. Roots that are too wet quickly cause rot, especially in variegated plants that are often more sensitive. Tap water is not recommended. Rather use clean rainwater or osmosis water.

Flowering

Although Monstera siltepecana can flower in the wild, this rarely happens indoors. The ornamental value lies mainly in the foliage.

Wonderful sock slippers
Size: 12-13, Color: Cable Knit Navy
These are wonderful sock slippers, They are very warm and well made. After reading reviews, I decided to order one size larger (10 to 11) and they are really comfortable big. However, I'm glad I did because they a lot easier to put on and take off. Highly recommended.

You get what you pay for
Size: 10-11, Color: Cable Knit Black
Comfy but cheaply made. I bought these for the price and expected them to be not the best quality but they are even less than I expected. Please also note that they run small. I got a 10-11 since I wear 11 shoe and Amazon recommended this size. I think a size larger would have been better. Not worth returning though. I’ll just wear them this winter if they last that long and get a better brand next time.

Quality and comfort
Size: 10.5-11.5 Women/9-10 Men, Color: Black
Comfortable and fit well. I got these to replace a very old pair that finally wore out! Warmth is medium (I wear puffer booties for when it's really cold). Quality on these is great!

Can't go wrong with Acorn for as long as they last!
Size: 12-13 Women/10.5-11.5 Men, Color: Charcoal
Acorn is just a great company all around. I had bought my husband these slippers over 20 years ago. They are still in great shape although the sole has worn in some places. But nothing's coming apart! However, I decided to replace them for him. His foot is 10.5 and they are a little hard to get on right away-of course, after over 20 years of having "worn in" the original pair, anything would feel tight. So I'm not holding this against them. They will relax with use. The only difference is that the original sole was black and these are tan. I think I would prefer the black, but since it's only being worn in the house, no big deal. My husband has really cold feet and these slippers never fail to warm his feet right up! He said they feel really soft to walk in and like the cushioning. They're not too heavy and fit him great! I have Acorn slippers myself that I've worn every single day in the house and outside to the mailbox too. They last.
