Tradescantia Sweetness (‘Ec-trade-2011’) in Kokodama

Tradescantia Sweetness (‘Ec-trade-2011’) in Kokodama is a compact, slow-growing Tradescantia with small rounded leaves striped in pale purple and yellow-green. The stems stay close, branched and creeping, forming a compact mat of pastel foliage.

The roots sit inside a wrapped Kokodama ball, while the pale striped leaves stay close to the surface before the stems begin to extend. Watering rhythm matters here, because the root ball can hold moisture differently from a standard nursery pot.

Tradescantia Sweetness (‘Ec-trade-2011’) compact pastel foliage

  • Leaf shape: Smooth rounded oval leaves sit closely along short, creeping stems.
  • Leaf colour: The foliage is striped in pale purple and yellow-green.
  • Growth habit: Growth is compact, heavily branched and slower than the long-trailing zebrina cultivars.
  • Kokodama roots: The wrapped root ball needs a clear soak-and-drain routine.
  • Flowers: Small white flowers with yellow anthers may appear when the plant is settled.
  • Renewal: Short stem cuttings can be rooted if older growth becomes uneven.

Compact growth in Tradescantia Sweetness (‘Ec-trade-2011’)

Sweetness (‘Ec-trade-2011’) has compact branching, creeping stems and rounded striped leaves in pale purple and yellow-green tones. Its slower growth responds well to light trimming, while rooted tips can be used to replace uneven sections.

Kokodama care for Tradescantia Sweetness (‘Ec-trade-2011’)

  • Watering: Soak the Kokodama root ball when it has partly dried, then let it drain fully before placing it back. Do not leave it sitting in water.
  • Dry-down: The outside of the wrapped ball can dry faster than the centre. Check by weight and feel rather than watering on a fixed schedule.
  • Light: Bright filtered light keeps the compact stems from stretching. Direct sun can scorch pale purple and yellow-green areas.
  • Root ball refresh: Refresh the wrapping or root ball if it becomes compacted, stays wet too long or dries unevenly through the centre.
  • Humidity: Moderate to higher humidity suits the compact growth, especially when new leaves are forming.
  • Temperature: Keep warm and away from cold draughts. A wet Kokodama ball in low temperature can damage roots quickly.
  • Pruning: Trim uneven stems lightly to keep the compact shape, then root healthy tips if you want to refresh the plant.
  • Fertilising: Use diluted fertiliser during active growth, applying it lightly so salts do not build up in the wrapped root ball.

Common issues with Tradescantia Sweetness (‘Ec-trade-2011’) in Kokodama

  • Wet centre: A heavy, cool root ball that stays damp can lead to root damage and soft stems.
  • Dehydration: Limp leaves and a very light Kokodama ball usually mean the root ball has dried too far.
  • Scorched pale tissue: Brown patches on pale areas often come from direct sun or drying too hard.
  • Stretching: Longer gaps between leaves mean the plant needs brighter filtered light.
  • Pests: Inspect compact growth for spider mites, thrips, aphids and mealybugs, especially near new shoots.

Safety for Tradescantia Sweetness (‘Ec-trade-2011’) in Kokodama

Tradescantia sap can irritate skin. Keep this Kokodama away from pets that chew leaves and wash hands after trimming or handling cut stems.

Best possible option out there!
Color: Large - Obsidian Oasis
Fits like normal sock for me. I'm a guy.... Fits like ankle sock I got large. I wear size 9.5 to 10 USA show size. How that helps. It fits just like a normal ankle sock doesn't restrict or press on your toes like others. Woke up this morning and my feet don't look like all peely they are normal looking now so that's good I guess? They work.

Gel socks
Color: Purple Paradise
These feel really weird to put on but once they warm up a bit they’re not bad for just laying around and relaxing. Definitely be careful walking around in case they slip against your foot. I’m not really sure I felt any softening or moisture difference from the oils supposedly embedded in the gel, but they do give your feet a bit of humidity which I guess helps when they start sweating lol. I wear a size 8 in women’s shoes and they felt like they could still be stretched much larger, but if you’re just laying down they don’t need to be snug. If you have anything smaller than a 7 they will definitely be long and floppy. The purple color is pretty and they are soft on the outside. I’m not sure about durability yet since I haven’t washed them yet but they are hand wash only so I expect they would last a while if you don’t over stretch or damage the gel inside. They seem to be constructed fine, the socks aren’t coming apart or unraveling at all, I’m sure the gel helps the soft fibers stay together as well

Great moisturizer socks
Color: Purple Paradise
My feet are so crazy dry. I shave off the skin prickles and sand down the rest every week. I put these on for maybe 30 minutes and my feet already feel better!
