Dracaena fragrans 'Ulises'

Dracaena fragrans 'Ulises' is a cool-toned striped cane Dracaena with glossy green leaves marked by fine white to silvery lines. The leaves are narrow and lance-shaped, forming neat heads at the tips of slender woody canes.

Indoor plants are often grown with several canes at different heights, creating a tiered outline with foliage held above a visible stem base. As the plant matures, older leaves gradually clear from the lower stems and reveal the ringed cane beneath.

Fine silver striping on narrow leaves

  • Foliage: Narrow green leaves with fine white to silvery stripes running along the blade.
  • Stem habit: Woody cane growth with leaf clusters produced near active stem tips.
  • Mature form: Lower leaves age away slowly, exposing more cane as height develops.
  • Layered shape: Multi-cane plants create layered foliage at different heights.

Cane growth from a tropical African species

Dracaena fragrans is native to Tropical Africa, where it grows as a shrub or small tree. The cultivated cane forms used indoors keep the same basic growth pattern: woody stems carry active leaf heads, while roots prefer warmth, air and measured moisture.

Cool striped foliage, slender canes and tiered leaf heads define this cultivar indoors. As the plant settles into a bright filtered position, new leaves continue from the cane tips while older lower leaves gradually reveal the ringed stems beneath.

Care for slender striped canes

  • Light: Give bright indirect to moderate filtered light. Strong direct sun can scorch pale striping, especially after shipping.
  • Watering: Water after the upper 50–70% of the mix has dried, then drain thoroughly before returning the plant to its cover pot.
  • Substrate: Use an airy indoor mix with bark, pumice, perlite or similar mineral material to keep oxygen around the roots.
  • Temperature: Maintain 18–27 °C and keep the canes away from cold draughts, chilled floors and wet winter compost.
  • Leaf surface: Clean the narrow blades occasionally so dust does not dull the fine striping.
  • Nutrition: Feed lightly in spring and summer, then reduce fertiliser when growth slows in lower seasonal light.
  • Repotting: Repot when roots are crowded or the stems become top-heavy, using a stable container with drainage.
  • Height control: Long canes can be cut back during active growth; healthy stems may reshoot from nodes below the cut.

Early checks for 'Ulises'

  • Sudden leaf drop: Check for cold exposure, wet roots or a sharp drop in light after moving the plant.
  • Brown tips: Review water quality, dry heated air, fertiliser build-up and inconsistent watering.
  • Dull striping: Wipe the leaves and move the plant into brighter filtered light if the pattern looks muted.
  • Soft lower cane: Inspect the stem base and roots if the potting mix has stayed damp for several days.
  • Scale or mealybugs: Look along cane nodes and leaf bases, where pests can settle before leaf damage is obvious.

Placement away from pets

Dracaena fragrans 'Ulises' should be positioned away from cats and dogs that chew foliage. Ingested Dracaena leaves can cause digestive symptoms, so fallen leaves and pruned cane sections should be removed after maintenance.

Botanical name and etymology

Dracaena fragrans belongs to Asparagaceae. The genus name Dracaena is linked to Greek drakaina, meaning female dragon, and the species epithet fragrans refers to scented flowers produced by the species under suitable conditions. The cultivar name 'Ulises' identifies this fine-striped cane form.

Dracaena fragrans 'Ulises' has cool silver-green striping, slim canes and tiered foliage.

I think I'll grab another bottle of this.
Size: 1 Fl Oz (Pack of 1)
Works fine I believe this gives my argireline & matrixyl 3000 along with copper peptides a really good boost actually, I wasn't that impressed at first but now I've been using it a while I can tell it's been helping . It's NOT greasy at all and absorbes really fast and well. I've noticed some of my wrinkles have deminished and some have softened a great bit. It's semi thick but not where it's sticky or tacky. Just enough that it doesn't feel or look like water. Which is great consistency. I've noticed my darker spots and skin has brightened up a good bit where I had more skin issues from the sun has lightened up but this also could be a number of products that I am using. But I do believe this one has been helping a good bit with my others. I'd get this again

Amazing!
Size: 1 Fl Oz (Pack of 1)
I absolutely love this product. I use it daily in the AM and PM and it's a staple in my skin care routine. Glides on, absorbs quickly, noticeable difference in fine lines, much better (and more affordable) than other name brands I have tried.

Love Good Molecules
Size: 1 Fl Oz (Pack of 1)
I’m learning a lot about peptides for skin and this product was recommended by so many people, in so many different places, that I gave it a try. And I don’t regret it. The price is phenomenal, I love the ingredients, I have sensitive skin with mild rosacea on my cheeks, and it does not aggravate my skin whatsoever. It goes on so smooth and dried so fast. There is absolutely no “film” it does not feel heavy or weird on my face either. Almost feels like water TBH. I’ve been using it twice a day for over a week now and I definitely can feel and see a difference! I thought maybe I was just fooling myself or imagining things but definitely not. My friend told me that my cheek look “less inflamed” and that the lines on my forehead are looking a little “less severe” (not that they were so bad to begin with lol but it definitely speaks volumes about the product) I don’t smell anything so I don’t think there is a fragrance As far as brightening my skin, I can’t honestly tell a difference in that aspect. But overall, it has done something noticeable with my skin redness and sensitivity, it has helped with minor plumping of smaller lines, it adds a nice “bounce” to my skin, nothing major or crazy, but noticeable enough to the naked eye. And this is using it twice a day for over seven days now – in conjunction with a few other products I use, but I am noticing that I am using less product products now. Now I am just down to my eye cream and my cicapair serum for redness/sensitivity & my fave good molecules Yerba Mate eye gel (I used it on my forehead lines too!) And I like the size of the bottle. Especially for the price. It feels very nice and soothing on the skin. I have to be careful that I don’t use too much lol I cannot wait to check out other items from this brand The two items I use are so good, affordable, and impressive. Plus multi use. This one, I put it on my lips as well. The Yerba is great for my forehead lines and I put it on my neck/under chin area too.

Great to add to your routine without spending big money.
Size: 1 Fl Oz (Pack of 1)
I’ve been using this in my skincare routine for about a month and I love it. It has helped my skin texture and elasticity. It’s also an amazing price. The Good Molecules line is a hidden gem that doesn’t require you to spend an outrageous amount for a serum. Make sure to let it absorb in before you apply the rest of your products, as it takes a minute to dry down. It seems very effective, has brightened my skin, and can be used every night. I’ve had it for about a month and still have half the bottle, so it’s a decent size. My skin was so dry before I started my new routine and I think this serum has helped. The consistency is like a little thicker and will feel a bit tacky after use. I use it after cleansing and before I use my snail mucin serum. Will buy again when I run out.

Great quality, great price.
Size: 1 Fl Oz (Pack of 1)
So far so good. This is my 2nd bottle. I mean, it’s not botox. But it’ll definitely plump and hydrate. I have dry, weird sensitive combination skin (and I’m 39), but this works and I love it as a first step in my rituals. (I also love their caffeine eye cream!)
