  • Care: Easy
  • Growth rate: Medium
  • Placement: back ground
  • Lighting requirements: Low light easy
  • Color: Red & Green
  • Max size: 12-20 inches
  • Propagation: runners/splitting apart at the base when large enough
  • Recommended Fertilizer: Nutrient rich root tabs

Red flame swords are medium to moderately fast growing background/Mid ground plants. This plant, like all plants, grows best with fertilizer and lighting around 6500k. This plant can be grown without co2, fertilizer is recommended but not always required depending on the substrate you use and bio load in your tank. Red flame swords are primarily root feeders so root tabs help! This plant is propagated by runners, meaning it shoots out little baby plants in all directions.

How to achieve the best color with these red swords? The answer is not to load up on iron. The solution is good lighting and nutrients. Lighting is the core factor in plant color, next up is nutrients. Provided you have a good light and nutrient source these swords should do wonderfully for you.

The optimal way to fertilize these swords is with root tabs. Liquid fertilizer works as well but isn’t as effective as root tabs since these plants feed more at their roots. You can place a root tab directly beneath the plant and the roots will soak up nutrients from the root tablet. Checkout our root tabs by clicking Here, your plants will thank you!

Good Idea, didn't Match Expectations.
Size: Large
Heavy and a bit difficult to 'load.' Maybe too hard for our dog. He did carry it around but didn't try to get treats as well as expected and it's quite difficult to clean. Maybe best for a larger more aggressive dog than a 65 lb. lab mix.

We've happily used OxyFresh pet water additive for probably around 15 years. I love that product, so I figured their toys would be great too. Not so much. The concept seems good. This does feel like a heavy duty rubber and it feels like a sturdy construction, but in actuality, it did not hold up. Without a goal like food in it, my two dogs had 0 interest in this. It says you can put a treat in it. I wrestled to put a piece of kibble in the jaws of this toy, but that was tough and there isn't much room in there. That did pique their interest. Both my boys are about 50 lbs. One is a heavy chewer and the other is pretty gentle mouthed with toys. BOTH dogs were taking chunks out of this immediately. I must say that I'm really disappointed. If the rubber held up, this is a fantastic concept and seemed like it would work very well to clean teeth. Unfortunately for us, this was an expensive toy that began to fail within about 15 minutes of what seemed to be very average use. We'll be continuing to use a toothbrush instead.

Durable
This is a great toy! I have a heavy chewer that destroys other toys in seconds. I have had this for 6 months and it still looks new.

Durable and dog loves it
I was searching for a squeaky toy but also a chew toy that wouldn’t break my dog’s teeth. We’ve already had to have one tooth pulled because our Jurassic Corgi girl cracked it on either a bone or a yak chew. She loves to play with this bone and chew on it and it has held up well. It still looks like new after several months and she plays with it daily.
