Banish those bathroom bottles with Friendly's all natural shampoo bar

Friendly's nourishing Shampoo Bar is made with Castor Oil to create a deeply conditioning, creamy lather that cleans and cares for your locks and scalp.
A long-lasting, compact bar with the relaxing essential oils of Lavender and Tea Tree.

Castor oil has been used for centuries as a natural hair conditioner and scalp treatment. Combined with coconut oil and olive oil to produce a rich, moisturising, nourishing shampoo. The essential oils of lavender and tea tree are favoured for their antibacterial qualities and promoting healthy hair growth.

A long-lasting and compact alternative to plastic-bottled liquid shampoos, one Friendly Lavender & Tea Tree shampoo bar will last as long as three bottles of liquid shampoo. And it loves to travel.

Each Lavender & Tea Tree shampoo bar is handmade with Castor Oil, Coconut Oil, Olive Oil, Lavender and Tea Tree essential oils, water. And nothing else.

Ingredients: Sodium cocoate, Sodium olivate, Aqua, Sodium castorate, Lavandula angustifolia (lavender) essential oil contains linalool, limonene, geraniol, Melaleuca alternifolia (tea tree) essential oil contains limonene.

Weight: 95g

How to use: Just run the shampoo bar over your head in one direction, from front to back. This will help you to avoid creating any pesky knots. Once you’ve a good amount of shampoo on your head, massage it into your scalp using your fingers.  Now rinse your hair with water until every drop of shampoo is out.  That’s it – you’re done.

A note about hard water: The effectiveness of natural shampoo is greatly affected by hard water. Hard Water is water with a high mineral content, usually calcium and magnesium, these minerals cause a chemical reaction with traditional soaps that prevent them from working as effectively. The sodium salt component in traditional soaps changes into their calcium and magnesium salt counterparts, thus resulting in an insoluble white-grey residue.

What can be done? This residue is very difficult to rinse out of hair using the hard water from your tap or shower so it is for this reason that you hear of the apple cider vinegar, baking soda or washing soda rinse being advised. All of these solutions, soften the water chemically. The first two are perfect for removing the mineral build up, but it doesn’t solve the problem of hard water, as you then re-applying the minerals when you rinse your hair from your supply.

To actually soften your hard water from your water supply, you can use Sodium Carbonate (washing soda) which binds to the minerals in hard water, changing their chemical makeup and thus making them insoluble.

Friendly by name, Friendly by nature

Rob & Geoff use the ancient cold-process method of soap making, which creates a biodegradable soap with zero by-products. There is literally no waste. Striving always to minimise their impact on the environment, as little energy as possible is used throughout production – every bar of Friendly Soap is poured, cut, stamped and packed by hand, here in the UK.

Friendly Soaps are all free from Palm Oil, Parabens, Sulphates, Triclosan, Phthalates and Cruelty, as well as being boxed in plastic free, recycled (and recyclable) packaging. They are also registered with The Vegan Society, Cruelty Free International and have a 'Best' rating with Ethical Consumer.

Their story is all about what is left in as well as what is left out. Friendly Soaps won’t dry your skin because all the valuable, naturally-occurring glycerine is left in the soap, so you get a wash that is rich and moisturising.

Also, the soaps are all made using ethically-sourced natural plant-based oils – coconut oil, olive oil, castor oil, shea butter and cocoa butter. Each has its own unique qualities and they are all naturally nourishing and moisturising.

Essential oils, flowers, spices and herbs are used for their scent and colour, their healing properties, and some – such as poppy seeds and hemp bran – will gently exfoliate the skin.

Friendly Soaps never use Palm Oil and believe the best thing for the rainforests, its animals and the earth is to avoid it entirely. Shea Butter is bought from a women’s worker cooperative in Ghana and the Coconut Oil is not produced using slave monkeys to pick the fruit. Yes, in some places, this actually happens!

By constantly scrutinising their production methods and working practices, Friendly take little steps towards their goal of producing a zero impact natural soap and business model that benefits the planet, its animals and its people.

The end result of all this thought and consideration? Beautifully luxurious soaps that care for you and the planet. Enjoy with a clean conscience!

This was a beautiful modern day re-telling of Beauty and the Beast
Format: Kindle
This was a beautiful modern day re-telling of Beauty and the Beast set in an old plantation homestead in New Orleans. Jonah is a hotshot lawyer who was climbing his way to top when a case he was involved in led to a tragedy that ended his life as he knew it. He now lives a lonely life in his family home, the Windisle Plantation. This is a heritage building with a tragic tale behind it. Clara moves to New Orleans when she is selected for the prestigious ballet company there. She hears about the Windisle Plantation and the mystery behind the ‘weeping wall’ and seems to get fixated on finding out the truth of the love story behind it. After researching as much as she can, Clara turns up at the weeping wall with a wish. It is rumoured that if you write a wish and poke it into the wall it may be granted. However, Clara’s wish is like no other before her and she is shocked to discover that there is a person living behind the wall. Jonah has never interacted with anyone who visits his wall but Clara’s wish stands out. His quiet life has been interrupted by this exquisite, beautiful girl who seems hell bent on getting to know him. There may be a big wall between them but over time a beautiful friendship forms between them, one that seems to overcome the physical barriers. Jonah begins to realise just how lonely he has been. Clara enlists Jonah to help her solve the mystery behind the weeping wall. In doing so she is also trying to encourage him to come back into the light, rather than hiding away in the dark. Jonah finds himself saying and doing things he never thought he would do again. Clara’s persistence and determination is changing things for him. I absolutely loved getting caught up in this fairy tale filled with mystery, trepidation and a beautiful friendship between a beast and his beauty ☺

Magical!
Format: Kindle
Wowww. This is the first book in a long time that I did not want to end. I was entranced by Jonah and Clara’s story, and the whimsical romance that came along with it. The Wish Collector is sort of a Beauty and The Beast meets Phantom of the Opera vibe. Clara is a ballerina new to the New Orleans dance company. She just moved to this vibrant, mysterious city and has while trying to acclimate to her new surroundings, she hears the tale of The Weeping Wall, a local New Orleans legend that surrounds a tragic love story from the 1800’s. Clara is so intrigued that she decides to visit the site of this lore, the supposedly abandoned Windisle Plantation home. Jonah was once on top of the world as New Orleans royalty. A young lawyer on the fast track at a prominent law firm, handsome, the toast of every dinner—until tragedy strikes, and he shamefully has closed himself inside the walls of Windisle. It’s here that he meets Clara—and so our story begins! This story has mystery, intrigue, local legend, and so much whimsy. I could not put this down!! I absolutely loved the dynamic between Jonah and Clara. This was very much a romance filled with so much longing and emotion. There is definitely spice, but this is a slow burn. The circumstances surrounding Jonah make him feel like a monster and he struggles badly with his feelings for Clara—le swoooon! The tale of the Weeping Wall is a secondary love story with a shroud of mystery that Clara is determined to solve. She and Jonah work together to try to put puzzle pieces together, all the while writing their own love story ❤️ I absolutely adored this book, and I think would make for a great movie. Can’t wait to read it again!!

Great new author for me!
Format: Kindle
A beautiful story from start to finish. A New Orlean’s setting added to the enchantment. Early American history was portrayed so well - heart wrenching, yet such an important part of the story, leading to the lovely heart warming finish.

Such a wonderful story
Format: Paperback
Mia knows how to write a book! This one did not disappoint. Clara moves to New Orleans and has no one. She’s is starting fresh in the city as a ballet dancer. She had to leave her family behind and come alone for health reasons. Jonah has lived here his whole life. His life used to look a lot different. Successful and handsome he had anything he wanted. Until it all went wrong. Jonah now spends his life behind the walls of his families plantation. He hides away and regrets some of his life choices. Clara shows up at a wall bordering his plantation to make a wish. Except she makes a wish to help someone else. Jonah and Clara form a quick friendship and a bond that is strong. As time goes on Jonah realizes he needs to come back to the world and he can make it a better place. He doesn’t need to listen to all the hate. He needs to keep his eyes on those that love him. This story was so good. It showed how people grow and change and how they fight to do the right thing (most of the time) and want to make those the care about happy. This showed the fight that we all have for love and those we love. Such a good book!!!

Legends and curses in New Orleans
Format: Kindle
The Wish Collector is a tale of heartbreak and misery. It takes place in New Orleans where legends and Voodoo curses are often used. Locals like to talk about Windisle a place known for it weeping wall where locals make wishes. When Clara stands before the wall she gets more than her wish granted. … Jonah is a man scarred by his mistakes. He lived behind the weeping walls. When Clara visits his home he finds a woman who is curious about the past. … Mia Sheridan’s passion for this storyline unfortunately was not mine. The writing is enchanting and beautiful. I guess I’m not the intended audience for this tale dating back to 1860. Three timeline: the legend of John and Angelina in 1860, a tragic accident from eight years ago which left Jonah living as a recluse, and the present is a modern day Beauty and the Beast between a young ballerina and a man punishing himself for his choices. … Do you ever know within the first few chapters a book that a story will be a middle of the road read? In your mind you’re thinking this is a three star read with the potential of becoming a five star read. Most often I can tell early on when a book is at best not going to be more than average. Unfortunately, that’s how I’m feeling about The Wish Collector. I had high hopes and expectations for this book. I even invested in both the audiobook and ebook. I’ve read quite a few books by Mia Sheridan. This one was on my back list. Some times when authors write from multiple genres I find where I’m stuck on liking some more than others. … I hate to say this about Zachary Webber, as the voice of Jonah, didn’t hit its mark. It wasn’t the voice I imagined of Jonah a man living in New Orleans. He grew up in New Orleans and I would imagine he would’ve taken on an accent. Virginia Rose was the voice of Clara. This is my first time experiencing this narrators performance I enjoyed it. I listened using the audible app. Anytime I can get both the ebook and audiobook together for a great deal I’m going to get both. I’m an eyes and ears person who benefits greatly from the written word and sound of words together to enhance my experience.
