Best in full sun, it needs moist but well drained soil, but becomes drought tolerant once established. It is also hardy down to -15 degrees Celsius.
Flowering from July to September, or beyond if the conditions remain favourable. You could cut back spent stems,however, if left in place the stems will be clothed in attractive seed heads which could provide a source of food for birds later in the year. Divide in spring as necessary.
Ideal for coastal, cottage, informal, prairie and gravel gardens as well as beds and borders.
