🌴Licuala Cordata Grow and Care Instructions🌴

~ Grow Instructions ~

Soak the palm seeds for two days in lukewarm water.
The seeds are sown in mineral-based cat litter (no clumping litter) or perlite (germ-free) in plastic-pots. Please sow the seeds on the mineral soil and cover the seeds with 5 mm - 10 mm mineral soil.
Then put the plastic pot in a ziplock bag - with a pot size of 6 cm , a ziplock bag of size 12 x 17 cm is recommended . Fill in the ziplock bag as much tap water with a few drops of universal fertilizer, so that after the absorption of the substrate a few mm of water remain on the bottom. Then close the ziplock bag - Ready!
More watering is not required because no moisture evaporates through the ziplock bag .
Location: on the windowsill or in a small greenhouse in partial shade, daytime temperatures at about 77-86 F, somewhat lower at night at 68-77 F. The resulting micro-climate provides ideal conditions for germination.
Germination time: 45 - 60 days, patience is required.

~ Care Instructions ~

Light Requirements

A great advantage of this palm is that it doesn’t have high light requirements. In fact, it prefers partial shade to complete shade, so you don’t need to worry about ensuring optimum levels of light for this plant.

Until it becomes established, direct light exposure should be avoided. The plant doesn’t tolerate full sun, and while it can build up a better tolerance as it matures, it will still prefer a shady location to a sunny one.

Strong, direct light coupled with dry and excessively warm conditions will damage the beautiful leaves of the ruffled fan palm.

Watering

The Lucuala grandis doesn’t need too much water. Its watering needs can be characterized as average and you can make sure the plant is well-hydrated if you water it whenever the surface of the potting mix dries out. Don’t overwater and also don’t allow the plant to go without any water for prolonged periods of time.

In winter, the growth of the plant slows down, therefore, its watering needs will also be lower.

Soil Type

The Licuala grandis is not picky about its soil type, however, for best results you should consider sandy soil amended with lots of humus.

Clay or loam soil will also work. Don’t bother testing soil pH levels, the plant is fine with either acidic, neutral or alkaline soil as long as it drains properly. You don’t want this plant to sit in too much water. As most houseplants, this too can be susceptible to root rot.

Let the top layer of the soil dry between watering sessions, and your ruffled fan palm should be ok. A bit of moisture or dampness of the soil is fine with the palm.

Temperature & Humidity

Although a plant that enjoys tropical and subtropical environments, it will tolerate slightly cooler temperatures.

You can grow the Licuala grandis in any region where the temperatures don’t fall below 32 °F or 0 degrees Celsius.

Anything lower than that, however, will not be tolerated. If you’re growing this palm in a container outdoors and winters in your region are cool or frosty, you must move this plant indoors for the winter.

Move the plant back outdoors in spring only if there’s no more risk of frost.

Fertilizing

Although these are slow-growing plants, a bit of fertilizer can help sustain steady growth and the production of beautiful and healthy foliage.

You can apply a slow release fertilizer 2-3 times during the growing season, or a liquid fertilizer once a month. A fertilizer formulation of 15-5-10 will work best.

Don’t fertilize during the winter seasons when the plant is no longer doing any growing. Also, don’t use too much fertilizer or in high concentrations (always dilute the fertilizer), because you can cause fertilizer burn. Over time, minerals from fertilizer can build up in the potting mix, so flushing the soil occasionally will help dilute excess fertilizer.

Potting & Repotting

Repotting can help the plant’s root system to develop better and aid the growth of the palm as well. Also, repotting is a good time to replace the old potting mix with fresh potting mix.

Because of the plant’s slow growth, you won’t have to worry about replacing the pot for this plant too often.

💚 Best Wishes, Your Plant Bitch (Quinn)

Basic everyday napkins but very thin
These are about as basic as paper napkins get. They work fine for everyday meals and quick cleanup, but they are definitely on the thinner side. You usually end up needing more than one for messier foods or larger spills because they don’t feel especially absorbent or heavy-duty. That said, the large count is convenient for everyday household use, cookouts, lunch packing, or casual gatherings where you go through napkins quickly. Overall they’re functional budget napkins, just nothing particularly thick or special.

Bake and Take - Excellent for Large (or small) Gatherings!
Size: 25 Pack w/ Lids
I ordered these 9 x 13 foil pans specifically for a trek to Mom's on Mother's Day. I chose them because they included the covers, are disposable, reusable and the best way to transport a warm meal to a family gathering. I have 8 siblings. I made pans of enchiladas for each family unit. Particularly in this current health situation - even among family members, the separate portions minimizes contact with others' food. Each pan was perfect for 18 chicken/cheese enchiladas. I made 10 pans for the entire family. I also ordered smaller pans (8.4 x 5.9) from this seller so each sibling could take some enchiladas home. The lids sealed perfectly; the pans were sturdy. I also used the small pans to make croissant crème brûlée custard - each person enjoyed their own portion of dessert – they all ate right from the pan – how convenient is that? I could not be happier with this amazingly convenient way to 'bake and take' - and NO WASHING PANS! I rolled into the gathering like a caterer - my family was really impressed. I intend to bake and take - AND bake and stay (again, NO WASHING PANS!) I made a large salad to consume during the week. I made it in the large pan and popped it in the fridge, easy peasy. I plan to use these pans for bar-b-ques. They’re great for marinating before grilling, taking the meat off the grill and placing into the pans AND, they are the ‘serving platters’. I highly recommend these pans (and the seller – I received them wicked fast!)
