Bright green stems bear pointed, oval leaves in a hazy bluish gray that truly do resemble Senecio citriformis ‘String of Teardrops’ namesake! Unlike many of the popular Senecio varieties that trail readily, the especially unique growth form of this specimen includes upright stems up to 4 inches in height, creating a shrubbier aesthetic that is further accentuated for part of each year by tall bloom stalks bearing white, pom-pom shaped flowers.

Hardy only to Zone 10, ‘String of Teardrops’ prefers to be housed in container arrangements that can be protected from frost during the chilly winter months. Bright yet indirect sunlight will encourage healthy growth while preventing sunburn, and a thorough yet infrequent watering routine will stave off issues such as rot or pests. Porous soil within a well-draining pot, and ample airflow around the leaves and soil surface, will further shield against these issues.
