Height 6 to 8 in

Alpine strawberries, commonly called wild strawberries, Woodland, Carpathian, or European strawberry, and are very easy to grow from seed. A wild strawberry type of strawberry plant that produces small, oblong-shaped, pale yellowish to white fruits that are very fragrant. Strawberries are a bit complex to start as a seedling, but once germination is complete, it is relatively slow to grow, and once well established, will give a good yield. Suitable for growing in pots or hanging baskets. Alpine is a perennial herbaceous plant in the rose family that grows naturally throughout much of the Northern Hemisphere, and that produces edible fruits.

Unlike other strawberries, Yellow Wonder alpine, forms a clump and does not produce runners. Berry production is very good the first year and will produce all season long from summer until the first frost.  Alpine strawberries are day-neutral, they flower no matter how long or short the days are, and are not affected by the amount of daylight or lack thereof.

Alpine's make great container plants, and will produce from summer until the first frost over about three seasons. Strawberry seeds benefit from vernalization - a simulation of winter in order to break dormancy. Start any time in early to late winter. After that time, they will still work, but they may not produce berries during the first season.

  • Full sun to part shade
  • Prefers well drained soil
  • Start seeds indoors: Alpine strawberry seeds are slow to germinate, but they'll fruit in their first season if started in mid-winter; Alpine strawberry seeds are among those that require a period of cold incubation, known as stratification, to achieve germination.
  • Sprinkle the seed on the surface of moist soil-less mix in a pot or in cell packs.
  • Slip the pot into a plastic bag and leave it at cool room temperature (15° to 18°C) or in the fridge for 30 days; remove the bag - keep closed, and place in room temperature to acclimatize the bag over a couple of days before opening the bag.
  • Wild strawberry seeds typically also need an additional 5 weeks to germinate and 6 to 8 weeks of further growth before hardening off and transplanting outdoors.
  • Recommended to start your seeds indoors 4 months before the last frost.
  • OR direct sow in early spring - plant seeds 1/8 in deep and 10 to 12 in apart, cover with soil lightly after risk of last frost has passed. Water in lightly.
  • Keep moist but not saturated. Berry production may work but typically will be next season production if started late.
  • Store unwashed berries in the refrigerator for 3 to 5 days. Strawberries can be frozen whole for about 2 months.
  • Harvest: you can grow the seeds into strawberry plants. Wait until the strawberry is starting to become very mushy - press the pulpy part through the sieve and the seeds should be left in the sieve. Rinse the seeds, dry, and store the strawberry seeds for future planting or sow.

The toys body is very durable, but the squeakers were broken within minutes without tearing it apart
Color: Green Bird
This is a squeaky dog toy that was supposedly very durable. I have to say that the squeakers are not durable and were immediately destroyed by my husky. The actual body of the toy is very durable and they were not able to rip it apart. They were able to destroy the squeakers without damaging the actual exterior of this toy. The toy itself is pretty soft except where it’s made of rope. Since it didn’t have any stuffing come out I will say that it was durable enough for chewing. This would be suitable for large larger dogs and even smaller dogs. I do feel this is a good value for the money because they were not able to rip it apart. I just wish the squeakers were more durable inside because there’s no way to replace those.

Our dogs new favorite toy
Color: Green Bird, Color: Green Bird
Our golden doodle loves this toy. He isn't a highly aggressive chewer necessarily, but he has been known to destroy toys by chewing on them and such. This one, so far, has lasted over a month or so. It has turned out to be his go to toy when he's wanting to play with one. The squeaker isn't that loud and it's not that easy to find. I like that legs are rope material and makes it good for tug of war, which Max loves to do. The material is pretty sturdy and it is a good weight. Sometimes when the toys are too heavy Max won't catch them in the air, this one he catches in the air just fine. It's very cute and I think it will hold up just fine to our Max's level of chewing. I felt the price was quite reasonable considering how much he likes it.

Fun squeaky toy that my dogs destroyed quickly
Color: Green Bird
My dogs were immediately obsessed with this toy. The squeaker and bright bird shape got their attention right away, and they carried it around the house constantly for the first couple of days. The rope running through the middle also made it more fun for tug games. The plush material is soft enough for carrying and cuddling, but because of that, it definitely was not long lasting with stronger chewers. Mine managed to tear into it fairly quickly despite really enjoying it. That said, it kept them entertained the entire time it survived, and the squeaker held up longer than I expected. I would recommend this more as a supervised play toy or fetch/tug toy rather than something for aggressive chewing sessions. If your dog loves squeaky plush toys, this one is very fun while it lasts.
