How Suclean 2,4-D Ethyl Ester 38% EC Works

Mode of Action

2,4-D Ethyl Ester is a synthetic auxin herbicide (HRAC Group 4). It mimics the natural plant growth hormone (auxin/IAA), causing rapid, uncontrolled cell division and abnormal growth in susceptible broadleaf weeds. Stems twist, leaves curl, and the weed dies from energy depletion within 1–2 weeks. Cereals (wheat, paddy, maize) tolerate it because they metabolize the molecule before damage occurs.

Absorption & Translocation

  • Absorbed through leaves and stems within 4–6 hours of spray
  • Translocated systemically to growing points and roots
  • Ester form gives faster leaf penetration than amine salts

Suclean 2,4-D Ethyl Ester 38% EC Dose  Crop-Wise Recommendation

Crop Target Weeds Dose / Acre Dose / Hectare Water Volume Spray Timing
Wheat Chenopodium, Convolvulus, Anagallis, Melilotus 400–500 ml 1.0–1.25 L 200 L 25–35 days after sowing (2–4 leaf weed stage)
Paddy (Transplanted) Broadleaf weeds + sedges 400–500 ml 1.0–1.25 L 200 L 20–25 days after transplanting
Maize Broadleaf weeds 400–500 ml 1.0–1.25 L 200 L 25–30 days after sowing
Sugarcane Annual broadleaf weeds 600–800 ml 1.5–2.0 L 250 L Pre-emergence or 30–45 DAS
Non-Cropped Area Parthenium, mixed broadleaf 800–1000 ml 2.0–2.5 L 250 L Active growth stage of weeds
Aquatic (Water Hyacinth) Eichhornia crassipes 600–1000 ml 1.5–2.5 L 500 L Active vegetative growth

Spray Guidelines & Precautions

  • Spray when soil has moisture and weeds are actively growing
  • Use flat fan nozzle at low pressure to reduce drift
  • Spray in calm weather, early morning or late evening — temperature below 30°C
  • Highly volatile: avoid spraying near cotton, soybean, tomato, chilli, grapes, vegetables — vapor drift can damage them up to 100 meters away
  • Use a dedicated sprayer for 2,4-D; thorough cleaning is difficult and residues can damage sensitive crops sprayed later
  • Maintain 6–8 hours rain-free window after application
  • Do not spray on crops under stress (drought, waterlogging, frost)

Frequently Asked Questions

What is 2,4-D Ethyl Ester 38% EC used for?

2,4-D Ethyl Ester 38% EC is used as a post-emergence selective herbicide to control broadleaf weeds in wheat, paddy, maize, sugarcane, and for managing water hyacinth and Parthenium in non-cropped areas.

What is the dose of 2,4-D Ethyl Ester 38% EC per acre?

The recommended dose is 400–500 ml per acre (1.0–1.25 L per hectare) mixed in 200 liters of water for wheat, paddy, and maize. For sugarcane and non-cropped areas, use 600–1000 ml per acre.

What is the price of 2,4-D Ethyl Ester 38% EC?

Current pack-wise price of Krishikranti Suclean 2,4-D Ethyl Ester 38% EC is listed on this page. Krishi Bhandar offers it at competitive farm-gate rates with pan-India delivery and Cash on Delivery available.

When should I spray 2,4-D in wheat?

Spray 25–35 days after sowing, when broadleaf weeds are at the 2–4 leaf stage and the wheat crop is at the 3–5 leaf stage. Do not spray after the crop reaches the booting or flowering stage.

Is 2,4-D Ethyl Ester safe for soybean and cotton?

No. 2,4-D is highly toxic to soybean, cotton, tomato, chilli, grapes, and most vegetables. Vapor drift can damage these crops even from a neighboring field. Never spray 2,4-D when sensitive crops are nearby and always use a dedicated sprayer.

What is the difference between 2,4-D Ethyl Ester and 2,4-D Amine Salt?

The ethyl ester form is more volatile but penetrates leaf surfaces faster and works better in cool weather. The amine salt is less volatile and safer near sensitive crops but slightly slower acting. Choose ester for tough weeds and cool seasons; choose amine for hot weather and drift-sensitive locations.

Can 2,4-D be tank-mixed with other herbicides?

Yes. In wheat it is commonly tank-mixed with grass-killer herbicides like Clodinafop or Sulfosulfuron for complete weed control. In paddy, it pairs well with Pyrazosulfuron-ethyl. Always do a jar compatibility test first.

How long does 2,4-D take to kill weeds?

Visible symptoms (curling, yellowing) appear within 3–5 days. Complete weed death occurs in 10–14 days depending on weed size, weather, and crop stage.

Can I spray 2,4-D in standing paddy water?

Yes, 2,4-D Ethyl Ester 38% EC is effective in transplanted paddy 20–25 days after transplanting. Drain excess water to 2–3 cm depth before spraying and do not re-flood for 24–48 hours.

Epic!!!!
Format: Kindle
Absolutely addicted from the first page. The twists and turns, world building and character development all come together for the perfect Omegaverse. And let's not forget that spice because knots are life and these are spectacular. Running for book #2 because that cliffhanger was torturous.

Fun with a late blooming omega
Format: Kindle
I like this book. The story is fun, cute, and sexy. There's just a little drama, some excellent, steamy scenes, and a fairly good relationship building storyline. I especially like how all the main characters are a bit older than the usual 20 somethings I tend to see in this kind of book. Having said that, I wish there were more descriptions of the places, as well as the food in the fancy restaurant. I enjoyed the cocktails at the club, so I missed that kind of detail when Gray took Madison on a dinner date. I also wish there had been more interaction between Lucas and Madison, and Lucas and Rian. It felt a bit lopsided, with a focus on Rian, Madison, and Gray. I wish it had been proofread - there are a lot of typos, but nothing too distracting.

Madison Deserved Better
Format: Kindle
Madison was a beta...except she wasn't any longer. She was a late presenting Omega. And she was struggling. She was tall and thin, not tiny and curvy. She was opinionated. She was everything an Omega was not. After suffering through her first heat, her friends took her to Ardor, a club where Omegas came to safely find Alphas. She's not expecting much but then she connects with a sexy beta. And when she meets his Alphas, they set her body on fire. Maybe, she's found her no-strings-attached heat pack. Maybe, she's found something more. I could not connect with the characters in this book, so their story never resonated with me. And there was no love story; there was sex. Grey made it clear from the beginning that he had a true love and it was his beta boy, Rian. He went so far as to reassure Rian “Say the word, I’ll never touch her again. Lucas can put the babies in her. I only need you, beta boy”. So, Madison was there for babies, no emotions needed. Nice. No, thank you. I want the Omega to be the center of their world, not an incubator. Lucas and Rian weren't any better. After her heat, they let her leave. Not one of them made her feel valued. No one gave her a reason to stay or even offered a cuddle. And the sex didn't even come across as mind-blowing. Madison deserved better.
