Garlic Wild Ramsoms is a British native perennial herb, wild relative of Chives. It can be found on the banks of streams and in shaded wooded areas. Carpeting the ground with white flowers and their strong garlic fragrance.
Broad spear shaped leaves and most attractive white flower heads composed of tiny star like flowers. Leaves and bulbs may be used as a substitute for garlic. Habitat: damp meadows and woods. Height of 30cm.
The leaves are edible and can be used in salads and to flavour meat dishes and sauces, use in pesto in lieu of basil. The plants produce leaves from early spring and flowers from Apr-Jun dying back in late summer. The plants need a moist loamy soil with a damp shady environment to grow.

Do not cover or rake in the seed. Germination will occur when the soil starts to warm in spring as the light levels increase. |
