Spring 2026 Shipping Schedule: 2/27/2026

Perennials return and bloom year after year! Bleeding Heart is a fast growing perennial that produces delicate heart-shaped flowers in spring above fern-like foliage. Plant in areas protected from high winds and early frost. An excellent woodland plant that naturalizes easily and loves rich, evenly moist soil.

About this Variety

Bleeding Heart Pink is an old fashioned garden favorite, also known as Dicentra. It is one of America's favorite garden plants and is a timeless classic. It produces pink, heart-shaped flowers that dangle from arching stems sure to brighten the partially shaded Spring garden.

Highlights

  • Loves shade
  • Excellent for bouquets and cut flower arrangements
  • Grows well in containers, garden beds and borders
  • Returns and blooms year after year
  • Unique, heart shaped blooms

Exposure:

Full sun to partial shade

Blooms:

Summer

Height:

Grows 24-36" tall

Spacing/Depth:

Plant 12-18" apart, 2-3" deep

USDA Zones:

Grow as Perennial in zones 3-9. Grow as Annual elsewhere.

Growing Instructions

Plant Bleeding Heart outdoors in spring after all danger of frost has passed in a partially shaded location. The ideal soil is rich and porous and drains well, yet still holds enough water for the roots. If your soil is heavy clay and drains slowly, or very sandy and does not hold water, add organic soil amendments like peat moss or ground bark. Spread a 3-4 inch layer of soil amendment if needed and incorporate into the soil to a depth of 10 inches. Plant roots 2-3" deep and 12-18" apart. Cover with soil. Water thoroughly at planting. While actively growing, water frequently and thoroughly so that water will reach roots. Mulch to keep the soil cool and to prevent the soil from drying out. Fertilize regularly. Remove foliage after it has completely yellowed and died back. Divide every two to three years.

Care Tip

Prefers protection from the hot afternoon sun. After flowering, cut the plant back to 6" so that the foliage can rejuvenate itself.

My dogs love these and they’re easier for them to eat than the sweet potato slices.

Definitely not worth the money you pay.
Size: 14 Ounce (Pack of 1), Set name: Standard
The dogs love them and they are great treats. The problem is for almost $20 a bag. You only get a fourth of the bag hole sweet potato strips. The rest of it is just the scraps from the skin. These get stuck in my dog’s gums and then their teeth and they’re hard to digest. I stopped buying them and went to another brand, unfortunately. I thought maybe it’s a fluke and the back got shook up, but I’ve ordered at least eight bags.
