Description

The Dracaena Anita is what happens when Mother Nature decides to paint with highlighters. Sporting slender, arching leaves edged in creamy yellow bands.

Native to Madagascar and the Indian Ocean islands, this gorgeous specimen is like having a piece of paradise delivered to your doorstep. The Dracaena Anita plant transforms any corner into a lush oasis, growing into a bushy, tree-like beauty that usually reaches up to 3 feet indoors… but ours reaches 6-7 feet.

She's the perfect statement piece for plant enthusiasts who want maximum visual impact with minimal drama—because who has time for high-maintenance houseguests?

Care

How do you care for a Dracaena Anita plant?

The Dracaena Anita loves consistent bright indirect light exposure, careful weekly watering when her topsoil dries completely, balanced monthly fertilizer during her active growing season, and stable indoor temperatures between sixty to eighty-five degrees Fahrenheit for optimal growth.

This tropical beauty appreciates consistency but forgives the occasional slip-up. Keep her in well-draining soil, provide moderate humidity (she loves a good misting session), and prune any yellowing leaves to maintain her gorgeous appearance. Low-maintenance luxury.

How often do you water a Dracaena Anita plant?

Water your beloved Dracaena Anita about every one to two weeks during the active growing season, carefully allowing the top inch of soil to completely dry between waterings for healthy root development and effective prevention of overwatering issues.

During winter months, reduce watering to every 2-3 weeks since she enters a slower growth phase. Always check the soil moisture first—this beauty prefers being slightly thirsty to having soggy feet!

Where do you put a Dracaena Anita plant in your house?

The best place for your Dracaena Anita is near east or west-facing windows with bright indirect light exposure. Avoid harsh direct sunlight so you can keep her in optimal growth conditions and vibrant coloration throughout the seasons.

She also tolerates artificial lighting wonderfully, making her perfect for offices or rooms with limited natural light. Just keep her away from cold drafts and heating vents—she's tropical, not desert-dwelling or arctic!

Is Dracaena Anita high maintenance?

The Dracaena Anita is refreshingly low-maintenance and forgiving. She’s absolutely perfect for beginners and busy plant parents. If you want stunning natural beauty without a 27-step daily care routine, you’re in luck if you buy an Anita.

She's forgiving with occasional watering mistakes, adapts to various light conditions, and doesn't demand daily attention. Think of her as the zen master of houseplants—beautiful, peaceful, and completely unbothered by life's little chaos.

Does Dracaena Anita need full sun?

Dracaena Anita definitely prefers bright indirect light rather than full sun exposure. Too much direct sunlight will fade her gorgeous cream margins and potentially scorch the foliage. Keep her looking amazing with natural light but protect her from harsh rays.

What fertilizer does Dracaena Anita need?

Feed your beautiful Dracaena Anita with balanced liquid fertilizer diluted to half strength once monthly during spring and summer growing seasons. Skip fertilizing completely during fall and winter when her growth slows down—she's a light eater.

Can Dracaena Anita tolerate heat?

When she’s kept indoors, Dracaena Anita puts up with moderate heat quite well. She prefers stable temperatures between sixty to eighty-five degrees Fahrenheit, but should avoid extreme heat, hot drafts, and sudden temperature fluctuations. She likes her stability!

Pet-friendly?

Dracaena Anita is not pet-friendly, because of harmful toxic saponins that can cause vomiting, drooling, and digestive upset.

Is Dracaena Anita poisonous to cats?

Dracaena Anita is definitely poisonous to cats, causing serious symptoms including vomiting, excessive drooling, loss of appetite, depression, and dilated pupils if ingested. If you suspect your feline friend has nibbled on her leaves, contact your vet immediately.

Is Dracaena Anita toxic to dogs?

Dracaena Anita is toxic to dogs, with symptoms like vomiting, diarrhea, excessive drooling, weakness, and appetite loss. Keep your pup's curious nose away from her gorgeous foliage. This stunner is meant to beautify your space, not become a doggy snack!

Factoids

Does a Dracaena plant purify air?

Dracaena plants are NASA-recognized air purifiers, removing harmful formaldehyde, benzene, trichloroethylene, and carbon dioxide from indoor environments, improving your home's air quality naturally and beautifully while looking fabulous! She’s the ultimate multitasking houseplant for health-conscious plant lovers.

Will my Dracaena Anita plant grow into a tree?

Your beautiful Dracaena Anita will grow into a small tree  indoors, getting to about three feet tall with a distinctive woody stem. Over time, you'll achieve an elegant, bushy appearance that brings that rainforest feel to your space.

How long does a Dracaena Anita last?

With proper Dracaena Anita indoor care and consistent attention, your plant will thrive for five to ten years or longer. You’ll get decades of beautiful foliage and air-purifying benefits for your home, rewarding all your consistent care.

Do Dracaena Anita plants like coffee grounds?

Dracaena Anita prefers its coffee grounds delivered via compost rather than direct soil application. Giving her too many grounds can cause problems with soil and water retention, affecting root health and the development of your plant.

Great toy for two big German Shepherds
Color: Brown
We only buy Tuffy dog toys now because we have one German Shepherd, and we often watch our daughter's GSD too, and the two dogs tear anything else apart in minutes. Tuffy toys are BY FAR superior to any other dog toy we have tried. That being said, some Tuffy toys seem to last longer than others with the two dogs, and this one has been pretty good! We've had it for a few weeks now, and it's just now starting to show some white (stuffing) where their teeth have pierced the top of the toy. That's pretty good, considering they play tug of war with it and can tear into toys pretty hard. If it were just our one dog, I think it would last a lot longer because it's the tug of war between the two of them that does them in faster. Even so, when they do manage to tear the fabric in vulnerable places, I just pull the stuffing out from that area, and they continue to play with it, sometimes for months! This one is better than some other Tuffy toys too because it has lots of areas where there is already more fabric and reinforced seams than stuffing, like all the legs on the side, the tail, and even the pincers. So far, they haven't been able to tear into those at all. Just a bit on the top of the head, and so far, no stuffing coming out yet. This one is a big win for us! When they finally do do it in, I will turn around and buy another Scorch the Scorpion right away!

Tuffy Desert Phrog vs Lola
Color: Green Leaping Phrog, Color: Green Leaping Phrog
Just a little background about my dog. Lola is a 5 year old corgi-terrier mix with jaws of steal. Lesser stuffed toys have met death in under 5 minutes. Tennis balls last less than a day. Rope toys that do not have frayed ends might possibly last a week (frayed ends never stand a chance). The only toys that she has not managed to destroy are her Kong, a Kong bone, and a racquet ball. I figured I would document the life span of Phrog (Tuffy Scale: 9) before making my final judgement on it’s durability. Day 1 - Phrog Arrives! Lola was very excited about the arrival of Phrog and immediately went into destruction mode. Phrog did sustain a little damage before we were able to bribe her to drop Phrog and get her understand that he was more fun to play fetch with than to mutilate. The white you see in the picture is not stuffing, but the second layer of defense for the toy. The fact that my living room is not full of stuffing and I didn’t have to pry a squeaker out of my dog’s mouth, I’d say Phrog wins the Day 1 challenge. Day 9 - Phrog has sustained a little more damage, but not anything life threatening. His side wound is a little bit larger and one of his eyes is half ripped off. For safety reasons, I am going to finish removing the damaged eye and some loose thread from various places. Other than that, Phrog is still holding up and holds top toy spot. I have also found him very useful for dealing with anxiety; the squeaker can often distract her from her stressors and Phrog takes the abuse of her frustrations. Day 16 - Phrog is starting to show signs of mortal wounds. Lola has made it through the thicker layer around his arm and I can see the stuffing. It is only a matter of time before gets all the way through. Day 60 - Phrog still lives!!! I have done some surgery on Phrog to reinforce the fabric around his arms, but Franken-Phrog is still the favorite of all of the toys. She will even get brave enough to rescue Phrog from the evil vacuum when he is kidnapped and tortured. I am thinking about purchasing Phrog II for the inevitable day when Phrog goes off to the pet toyland in the sky, but for now, there is only one Phrog for Lola.

Long lasting play toy!
Color: Multicolor
Tuffy toys in general are great and they are a pretty good deal on Amazon. They are not indestructible, and if your dogs use them as chew toys they will eventually break through. My dogs have had this Armadillo since Christmas (and they do chew on it some) and the only thing missing is an ear. They like to play tug-of-war with it a lot. This is a bigger toy, but even my forty pound dog plays with it. I would not recommend this toy for dogs smaller than Border Collie size. You can make these Tuffy toys last longer if you don't allow your dogs to chew them--when your dogs starts chewing on non-chew toys trade them for a chew toy and when you catch your dog chewing on a chew-approved toy reward them for chewing. Eventually your dog will catch on and realize that if they want to chew there are certain toys that are allowed for that. In addition to being a great play toy this is a pretty cute toy too!

Not Tuff
Color: Black Yellow Phrog, Color: Black Yellow Phrog
Absolutely terrible and not “tuff” at all. My chocolate lab had this thing destroyed in less than two hours. I would not recommend these for the price.
