How to care for Echeveria Mebina Variegata (4 inch)
Sun/Temperature: The optimal temperature range for Echeveria Mebina Variegata is 60°F to 80°F with winter temperatures not dropping below 40°F. While it can be cultivated outdoors in summer, plants may enter dormancy if temperatures exceed 95°F. Sufficient sunlight encourages compact growth and intensifies the red hue along leaf edges and enhancing its ornamental value. However, shading is necessary during summer.
Soil/Watering: It's generally advised to avoid using soil mixtures with excessive particles for planting Echeveria Mebina Variegata, as this can impede growth. A soil mix with 50-60% particles is recommended. Spring and autumn are growing seasons when moderate watering is encouraged, allowing the soil to dry slightly before watering again. Water should be carefully controlled in summer. Avoiding direct leaf watering especially in strong sunlight. Watering in the midday warmth of spring and winter afternoons or evenings of summer is optimal.
Pot: Echeveria Mebina Variegata readily produces side shoots, so choosing slightly larger pots is advisable.
Diseases: In summer, it's prone to powdery mildew. If infection occurs, affected parts should be pruned and treatment with sulfur-based or copper-based fungicides is recommended. Overwatering should be avoided during this period.
Propagation: Echeveria Mebina Variegata can be propagated through beheading. Remove the top portion of the plant by cutting just below the bottom leaves with clean scissors or a knife. Allow the cut to dry before planting the beheaded portion in soil for propagation.
