  The parent species is native to Northern and Central Mexico. While the standard version is widespread, this monstrosa form is a horticultural treasure, specifically cultivated for those who love the "oddities" of the plant world.
  
  While this monstrose form focuses most of its energy on its wild pad growth, it can occasionally produce creamy yellow, cup-shaped flowers.
