Aglaonema 'Lipstick Green'

Aglaonema 'Lipstick Green' is a compact Chinese evergreen with slim green leaves, lighter leaf edges and pale petioles. The plant forms a small upright crown, with the stems and leaf bases adding brightness below the blades.

Pointed, smooth leaves sit close together on a young plant. As new basal shoots develop, the crown gains density while the plant stays compact indoors.

Aglaonema 'Lipstick Green' slim-leaf features

  • Slim green leaves with lighter edging
  • Pale petioles that brighten the base of the crown
  • Compact growth habit for smaller indoor pots
  • Pointed, smooth foliage with an upright spread
  • Compact Aglaonema for warm rooms with filtered light

Pale petioles and crown development

Aglaonema 'Lipstick Green' is a cultivated Aglaonema selected for narrow green leaves and light-toned petioles. It grows from short stems and side shoots, gradually filling the pot from the base.

Aglaonema species come from warm, sheltered habitats from north-eastern India through tropical Asia to Papua New Guinea. Indoors, this cultivar needs stable warmth, filtered light and a draining substrate so the crown stays firm and the roots do not sit wet.

The name Aglaonema comes from Greek roots meaning bright or clear and thread, referring to the stamens.

Care for Aglaonema 'Lipstick Green'

  • Light: Give bright filtered to medium indirect light. Direct midday sun can scorch the lighter leaf edges.
  • Watering: Water when the upper 2–3 cm of mix dry. Keep the root ball lightly moist through the middle, then allow a short drying phase before the next watering.
  • Substrate: Use an airy indoor mix with coco coir, perlite and small bark pieces. A compact young plant needs drainage around the lower stems.
  • Drainage: Keep the crown above the substrate surface and empty standing water from the cover pot after watering.
  • Temperature: Maintain 18–27 °C. Cold marks can appear after exposure to draughts, cold floors or cold windowsills.
  • Humidity: Moderate indoor humidity is suitable. Very dry air can leave new leaf tips tight, curled or dry.
  • Feeding: Feed at low strength every 4–6 weeks while the plant is actively growing. Narrow leaves can show salt stress as brown margins.
  • Repotting: Repot once roots circle the pot or watering becomes difficult to manage. Use only a slightly larger container.
  • Grooming: Cut ageing leaves at the base and clean the leaf surface gently with a damp cloth.
  • Propagation: Divide rooted shoots when the plant has developed several crowns.

Crown, edges and slow growth

  • Soft crown base: Check for waterlogged substrate, poor drainage or a pot that is too large for the root system.
  • Brown leaf edges: Usually linked to salts, dry intervals or heat near glass. Move the plant away from hot glass, radiator heat or repeated dry spells.
  • Pale scorch marks: Strong sun or concentrated window heat can mark the leaf surface. Shift the plant to filtered light.
  • Slow new growth: Cool roots or very low light can stall the crown. Improve warmth first, then increase ambient light gradually.

Safety around pets and children

The leaves and stems of Aglaonema 'Lipstick Green' contain insoluble calcium oxalate crystals. If eaten, they can irritate the mouth and throat, so keep the plant away from pets and children and wash off sap after cutting old leaves or dividing the plant.

The slim leaves and pale petioles suit narrow shelves and compact displays.

Large is a little big for Bostons
Color: Dogwood (Brown), Size: Large (Pack of 1)
Seems to be durable for 2 VERY agressive chewer Boston Terriers. Cricket and Alice are shockingly good at chewing - grateful they pick to do so with thier toys. Trial vs other name brand competitor. PetStages' is a little larger so harder to bite on fir small dogs, but seems to be equally durable. While PetStages proudly states it has real wood fiber and scent (whoch I thought would win)... they prefered the other. Both dogs love to chew on real sticks. But, when the bossy one indicated she was taking over the stick the other dog had, they exchanged, and kept chewing, over and over, back and forth. I mean to say, whatever the prefered stick was at first didnt seem to matter later. These super hard chew toys do make me nervous. One dog broke a tooth last summer on a different brand toy, a very expensive extraction bill, and poor pup's terrible discomfort... but the other did not and has amazing white teeth, all around.... so.

The best chew ever for a strong chewer
Color: Dogwood (Brown), Size: Large (Pack of 1)
We have a 77lb goldendoodle who loves these. We’re lucky because he doesn’t chew on anything other than his toys, but when he starts on this…he really goes at it. It’s healthy, (not synthetic), doesn’t break apart, (no pieces to worry about him swallowing), it just perfect for him. The noise may get on your nerves but it’s a small price to pay to keep him from chewing on your furniture, shoes, or anything else a mischievous dog can find.

Little pieces break off
Color: Dogwood (Brown), Size: Large (Pack of 1)
My dog is obsessed with this. It does last a long time even given her strong chewing capabilities. I wish it was a little bigger. The main reason I rated it so low is when my dog is chewing on this it breaks off a little plastic peice and sometimes it hits the back of her throat making her cough so you have to supervise with this.

Great for aggressive chewers
Color: Dogwood (Brown), Size: Large (Pack of 1)
My dog is an aggressive chewer so they are great for her. I would love to have one a bit thinner so it could fit in a holder so it is easier for her to hold while eating. This keeps her busy and is long lasting. I have purchased these multiple times.
