Compared to the popular Albion strawberry variety, Monterey is stronger flowering with a similar production pattern, may require more space, with less firm but larger fruits and similar post harvest traits. Monterey strawberries have outstanding flavour with a distinct sweet aftertaste that is unique among California strawberry cultivars.
Although susceptible to powdery mildew, Sphaerotheca macularis, the vigorous Monterey plants have a good disease resistance profile, the variety does well in organic applications.
