High Hopes Coral Bells (Heuchera 'High Hopes')

High Hopes Coral Bells is a compact foliage perennial that brings bright color and refined texture to shaded beds, borders, and containers through the growing season. Its lighter foliage helps brighten darker planting areas and creates a clean contrast against deeper greens, burgundies, and silver-toned companions. Because it forms a neat mound, it is especially useful near the front of the border where the leaf color and detail can be appreciated up close. This variety is a smart choice for gardeners who want dependable foliage interest, a tidy habit, and a perennial that helps keep shade plantings looking lively and finished.

The foliage remains the main attraction, but airy flowers add another layer of seasonal interest without overpowering the leaves. Its manageable size makes it useful in decorative planters, edging, and smaller garden spaces where every plant needs to contribute clearly without becoming too large. The overall effect is polished and versatile, which makes it easy to blend into both formal and naturalistic designs. For plantings that need brightness, structure, and long-season garden value, this selection offers broad usefulness.

Distinctive Features

High Hopes Coral Bells forms a dense mound of rounded to slightly lobed foliage in bright green to yellow-green tones, often with darker veining or a subtle overlay that gives the leaves added depth. The foliage mound typically reaches about 8 to 12 inches tall and about 12 to 18 inches wide, while flower stems rise to about 16 to 22 inches in bloom. Small white to pale pink flowers appear from late spring into summer and create a soft, airy effect above the foliage. Its compact habit, fresh foliage color, and long ornamental window make it especially useful in close-up planting areas and mixed containers.

Growing Conditions

  • Sun: Part shade is generally best, though it can handle some morning sun and may tolerate more light in cooler climates if moisture is consistent.
  • Soil: Well-drained, humus-rich to average garden soil is preferred, especially soil that does not remain wet around the crown.
  • Water: Average moisture is ideal, with regular watering during establishment and supplemental water during extended dry periods.
  • Zones: USDA Zones 4 to 9 are a conservative and commonly supported range for dependable performance.
  • Habit: This plant grows in a compact, clumping, mounded form with flower stems rising above the foliage.

Ideal Uses

  • Focal Point: Its bright foliage makes it an effective focal point in small shade gardens, decorative containers, and front-of-border plantings.
  • Borders: It works beautifully along the front of perennial borders where the lighter foliage can define and brighten the planting edge.
  • Containers: The tidy mound and fresh leaf color make it a strong choice for patio pots, entry planters, and mixed seasonal containers.
  • Edging: Its compact size makes it useful as an edging plant along paths and bed lines where a clean, colorful finish is needed.
  • Woodland Gardens: It fits naturally into part-shade woodland edges where lighter foliage can help lift and soften darker combinations.

Low Maintenance Care

  • Watering: Water regularly during the first growing season, then provide supplemental moisture during dry weather, especially in brighter exposures.
  • Cleanup: Remove old or weathered foliage in early spring to refresh the clump and encourage clean new growth.
  • Drainage: Avoid poorly drained sites because prolonged wetness around the crown can weaken the plant and reduce longevity.
  • Deadheading: Cut back spent flower stems after bloom to keep the plant tidy and return attention to the foliage.
  • Mulching: Apply a light mulch around the root zone to help conserve moisture and moderate soil temperature, but keep mulch away from the crown itself.

Why Choose High Hopes Coral Bells?

  • Bright Foliage: Light green to yellow-green leaves help brighten shaded planting areas through much of the season.
  • Compact Habit: Its neat, mounded form fits easily into smaller beds, borders, edging, and decorative containers.
  • Versatile Placement: It performs well in borders, woodland gardens, decorative pots, and other part-shade settings.
  • Long Season Interest: Even when not in bloom, the foliage continues to provide color, texture, and structure in the landscape.
  • Easy Garden Value: Once established, it offers dependable ornamental impact with relatively simple care.

High Hopes Coral Bells is a smart choice when a planting needs brightness, texture, and dependable structure without adding much height. Its compact mound makes it easy to place, while the fresh foliage color gives it enough presence to stand out in both simple and layered combinations. For gardeners looking for a coral bells variety with refined foliage and broad landscape usefulness, this selection earns its place.

Very tight fit on 74mm Mobile 1 Filters
Color: Silver
It claims to fit "some" 74mm Mobil 1 filters. It's a fraction too small, but will work if you "force" the tool on the filter.

Works if you need help. Not a miracle in a bottle.
Size: 1 Count (Pack of 1)
It has worked every time I've used this product. Won't fix a damage catalytic converter but will help you pass the test if your car almost passed.

Worked like a charm.
Size: 1 Count (Pack of 1)
Used it as directed. Down to an eighth of a tank. Poured it in and added enough gas to get back to one half a tank. Wanted to get it mixed in really well. Immediately jumped on the interstate and ran 75 MPH for 40 miles. Stopped and filled the tank and when I restarted the engine, the light was off. Coincidence? Not a chance. Light had been on continuously for weeks. AutoZone said I needed a catalytic converter. Nope. One thing I found out the hard way. If your gas filler has a flap at the top, make sure it is easy to push aside. Mine had a little release button near the top that the filler hose would depress before the flap would release. Dumped the first bottle right on the ground. Twelve bucks wasted. No one to blame but me, I guess. Still a bargain, even at twice the price.
