If you’re a fan of climbing/trailing plants with variegation, take a look at Scindapsus Silver Lady! This easy-care tropical houseplant boasts deep green teardrop-shaped leaves heavily overlaid with silver, giving it a dappled or splashed look. Each leaf is a little different in its pattern, making each a work of art and making your plant ever more lovely and intricate as it grows.

As added interest, the silver has a sparkly look in bright light. If you allow it to climb a wall or pole, it grows with a unique shingling habit as the leaves press flat against the support surface, creating even more interest. Despite its exotic look, Scindapsus Silver Lady is delightfully easy to care for, so you can enjoy its beauty whether it’s your first houseplant or your five hundredth houseplant.

Plant Bio

Scindapsus Silver Lady

Native to areas of Southeast Asia, Scindapsus Silver Lady is an exceptional climbing, trailing houseplant that you don’t commonly see for sale. Most leaves are more silver than green.

It’s closely related to several other Scindapsus we grow, including:

  • Scindapsus Argyraeus. This classic variety also has green and silver leaves but tends to have a lot less silver. The foliage has more of a matte finish; Silver Lady foliage tends to be shinier.
  • Scindapsus Black Mamba: Unlike Silver Lady, Black Mamba has no silver variegation; the leaves are evenly deep, dark
  • Scindapsus Exotica: Like Silver Lady, Exotica sports green leaves dappled in silver. Exotica leaves tend to be larger and rounder than Silver Lady and may look more blue-green than green and have more of a matte look than a shiny look.
  • Scindapsus Mount Salak: Compared to Silver Lady, Mount Salak tends to have a finer variegation pattern with smaller patches of silver and multiple shades of green. The leaves also tend to be larger and rounder than Silver Lady.
  • Scindapsus Platinum: Platinum sports all-silver leaves with no green dappling.

For the happiest plant, give it a spot with medium to bright light (within 3 feet away from a good-sized east or west windows ideal). It tolerates lower light levels but will be slower growing and the dark color won’t be as rich. Watering is a breeze thanks to the Wick Grow self-watering system it’s in. Just add water to the reservoir as it empties and be sure to never fill the reservoir over the top of the window at the base of the pot. Average household temperatures and humidity are fine for this low-maintenance climber (though it does appreciate above-average relative humidity), so you can sit back, relax, and enjoy the show!

Note: This plant may have some natural degree of toxicity and may cause discomfort or illness if ingested. Additionally, exposure to the sap of this plant may cause discomfort to individuals with a sensitivity to it upon contact. Grown for ornamental purposes and not intended for human or animal consumption.

Perfect reference guide
Format: Paperback
I bought this book to supplement my lessons with an AMGA guide to learn how to set up toprope climbs. I used it many times to practice and reinforce everything I learned. It is really well written and my favorite book in terms of the knowledge contained within. As common sense would dictate this is not a book to teach your how to toprope...it is a reference to what you have learned?

Essential To Read Before the Class
Format: Paperback
This book provides a good overview of what you'll need to know for your AMGA Single Pitch Instructor (SPI) course and assessment. If you plan to take that course this book is a no-brainer. You just have to buy it and read it. There are a few shortcomings: * The photos of how to tie the knots skip a lot and it is impossible to learn the knots from the book. * The photos of what not to do should be clearly labeled with a red cross bar or WRONG overlay on the photo. If you flip causally through the book and look at the photos some very wrong stuff is there and you have to read the text to know that it is not recommended. * The religious debate on anchor systems rages on. Should you set up a Joshua Tree System with Tether or a Backside System? I realize the AMGA doesn't want to pick sides and will say either is acceptable, but the book doesn't even try to discuss the advantages and disadvantages of various anchor systems.
