Scientific Name
Epipremnum aureum (golden plant which grows on the bottom of a tree) 'Golden Queen'

This plant was first described as a Pothos, and subsequently reclassified as both Rhaphidophora aurea and Scindapsus aureus before settling on the current scientific name: Epipremnum aureum.

Common Name
Devil's Ivy, Golden Pothos, Ivy Arum, Taro Vine, Golden Queen Pothos

Origin
Native to the Society Islands, French Polynesia

Description
From a distance, you'll see bright lime green leaves growing from a vining stem; look closer, and you'll see just how these shining leaves earned the name 'Golden'.The almost-neon green and yellow on these leaves really make it stand out and catch the eye in any collection; give it a spot with a decent amount of humidity and light that is bright but not glaring, and your Golden Queen will really shine. And since it is used to climbing over tree trunks in its natural habitat, you can get adventurous with moss poles or other climbing supports which will really make your Pothos stand out!

Light

Bright but indirect light is best, as this plant is not used to direct sunlight. If in a shadier location, water less frequently to stop it getting waterlogged.

Water
Allow the top third of soil to dry out between waters; in a shadier location, allow about half to dry out. Keep an eye out for soggy soil in winter especially.

Humidity
Average humidity is fine; don't mist this pothos, though a hose down once a month or so will help it keep its leaves clear of dust. Make sure you don't keep it too close to a radiator which could dry it out

Soil
Use a well-draining soil with chunky bits like bark which will help it drain and get air to your roots. Repot every few years as the plant grows.

Food
Feed every four waters in spring and summer; reduce to every six in autumn and winter.

Temperature
Average temperatures of 18-30°C are fine; make sure it doesn't get colder than 12°C in winter.

Pet-safe
No, this plant is toxic to pets and small humans.

Sprouts Top Tips
Allow this plant somewhere to grow to or something to grow up and it will deliver! It can have a spread of up to 8m in height in the right conditions. Alternatively, you can trim the ends to make entire new plants from the cuttings; just make sure there's a leaf and a node and your plant should be able to root anew!

    Great For Dry Hair
I've never tried Batana Oil before, so I had no idea what to expect. It's a great oil for my hair. I love that it is all-natural oil and is more like a paste. It spreads easily on my hair. I love that I can put a tiny bit on my finger and rub it directly into my dry scalp. The oil has an interesting but pleasant smell. It's hard to describe. It reminds me a bit of a cross between coffee and cacao, but more nutty and mild. I like it. It's not too strong. The directions say to apply and leave in for 20 minutes, then wash out with a sulfate-free shampoo. I like to leave it in my hair for a day or two before washing it again. It's a great conditioning oil for dry and damaged hair. It might feel heavy on fine or thin hair, but I like it on my medium-thick hair. The only reason I dropped this a star is that I'm dubious of the claim that it promotes hair growth. I think it helps my dry hair from breaking off, but I don't think it can do much for most hair loss. However, for hair conditioning, this is definitely a five star product.

It's not showing no improvement or no change. It's been one month and no improvement to my hair... Just a waste of money... Very disappointed ☹️☹️

Single-ingredient moisturizing treatment with a pleasant smell
When this is described as "batana oil," that's exactly what it is. Not a dozen other ingredients with just a little bit of batana, no colors or fragrances, just batana oil. I love that about this. It's easy to use, just melt it into you hands and massage it into your scalp and hair. Folks with long hair would do well to concentrate on the ends since that's where you're less likely to get natural oil from your scalp to help keep the hair healthy. Leave it in for a bit, then wash it off in the shower with shampoo. Not at all complicated. I loved how my scalp felt afterward, definitely less itchy and "tight." as far as regrowing any hair or anything, I think the only thing that would help me is a miracle, so I'm not basing my review on that. The smell is nutty and very nice. Similar to the roasty notes of coffee or chocolate. Very pleasant and not "chemical" or perfumey smelling.

Nice Scent but Too Early to See Results
I’ve just started using this batana oil, so it’s too early to say if it actually helps with hair growth or thickness. I’ll need to use it consistently for a while before seeing real results. So far, I do like the smell—it has a nice scent and doesn’t feel overwhelming. The oil itself feels nourishing and easy to apply to the scalp and hair. The size is decent for the price, but like most hair treatments, the effectiveness will really depend on long-term use. Pros: Pleasant scent Feels nourishing on hair and scalp Easy to apply Cons: Too early to tell results Overall, it seems promising, but you’ll need to give it time to see if it actually delivers on the hair growth claims.
